From his website, "America Serves" policy.

http://www.change.gov/americaserves/

America Serves
"When you choose to serve -- whether it's your nation, your community or simply your neighborhood -- you are connected to that fundamental American ideal that we want life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness not just for ourselves, but for all Americans. That's why it's called the American dream."
The Obama Administration will call on Americans to serve in order to meet the nation?s challenges. President-Elect Obama will expand national service programs like AmeriCorps and Peace Corps and will create a new Classroom Corps to help teachers in underserved schools, as well as a new Health Corps, Clean Energy Corps, and Veterans Corps. Obama will call on citizens of all ages to serve America, by developing a plan to require 50 hours of community service in middle school and high school and 100 hours of community service in college every year. Obama will encourage retiring Americans to serve by improving programs available for individuals over age 55, while at the same time promoting youth programs such as Youth Build and Head Start.

I think it's a great a idea and I support it.:00x15

Maybe it'll teach some of these kids a thing or two. Kids that are growing up nowadays need a serious wake-up call. Things are either given to them, or they just take it. Damn the consequences. So I'm for it too. Teach these little fuktards something!

Definitely. And when someone works to improve their community they tend to gain pride in it and are less likely to destroy it. It's just human nature.

"the bunker"
"choose" or "require".....is this mandatory volunteerism?..

we have a little 13th amendment issue to deal with here..

Section 1. Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime where of the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.
Section 2. Congress shall have the power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.

now,he can institute a draft...and force you to serve...so maybe he can circumvent the 13th amendment...

i need to know...will the official shirts be brown?(cause my underwear already is)....:00x12

If you are out of work and have kids, you should get to volunteer 60 hours per week.

If you are out of work and have no kids, you should volunteer 80 hours per week.

If you already work, you should get a tax break.

Where does it show requirements for adults to go to work? He is "calling" on everyone to pitch in. Bush "called" on everyone to keep spending and driving.

Kids are forced to go to school as it is. Is that slavery? They are kids for crying out loud. They have no part in the decision.
