Advantage Michigan (along with ND's 5 turnovers).

Scott, you constantly talk about USC's ability to force turnovers (and not give them up) as a sign of them being a great team. Now, when it's convenient for your argument, 5 turnovers are an excuse for ND.

Michigan flat out kicked ND's ass in their stadium. It had nothing to do with the schedule, looking ahead, or looking behind. I can promise you, ND was dialed in on the Michigan game. It's a rivalry game nearly on the magnitude of UM/OSU.ND brought everything they had to the table and lost by 26 effing points! You can rationalize it all you want, but it was an asswhipping, ON THE FIELD and IN ND's HOUSE!

Your team is playing it's biggest rival - They're #1 and your #2 and all you can think about is how ND is going to a bowl they don't deserve.

True irony.

The jealousy of Notre Dame always going to a bowl they don't deserve and the hatred of the program because of it is the exact reason that they go to a bowl they don't deserve.

Go Irish!! Beat Army

ND arrogance personified. Maybe no one would question ND's place in a bowl game if they had won one since 1994?

you enjoy that Army game tomorrow.

LOL - If anyone is overrated Texas is it... Please explain to me why Wisconsin would stomp all over ND. How come Wisconsin struggled to beat Penn St.?

Wis may have been looking past PSU to the Iowa game. It happens all the time. Besides, need I remind you that PSU is 7-4? And as long as we are discussing struggles, can you please explain to me how come ND struggled to beat the 4-7 Mich St?
Wisconsin's defense is way too powerful for ND offense. The Badgers only give up 12 points a game, ND would be lucky to score that. If ND were to join the Big Ten, the same thing would happen to them that happened to Penn St. when they joined.
And how did Texas get brought into this? I never mentioned Texas. This thread is silly, grow up.

USC was tops (or near the top) in the nation in turnovers 4 straight years. Teams do not do this. Usually it cycles. Phile Steele proves that with stats. However, this year USC has not been fortunate with the turnover ratio. Prob. because USC is so young on both sides of ball AND injuries added up.

Michigan flat out kicked ND's ass in their stadium. It had nothing to do with the schedule, looking ahead, or looking behind. I can promise you, ND was dialed in on the Michigan game. I agree Michigan was the better team and dominated in all phases. However, 5 turnovers is not normal. If Michigan blew out ND with ND having 2 turnovers, I be more impressed. I don't remember the game closely, but 5 turnovers is very high # and I wonder how many of those 5 were actually more to do with ND errors than Michigan D forcing them. I don't know. I do know 5 turnovers is a lot. So I somewhat take the BLOWOUT with a grain of salt. I do know Michigan dominated both sides of the ball.

IF Michigan were to play ND this Sat. I certainly would favor Michigan.

I also think Michigan caught ND at perfect time. Of course ND was excited and ready for Michigan, but I think they were at a disadvantage playing against Michigan (except for home field). Michigan played Vandy and CMU before ND and they def. had more time to prepare and work things out and be ready for ND. I wonder if Michigan goes 3-0 to start the year if they played @G-Tech, Penn St. and ND (@michigan).

I would like to think Mel Kiper Jr. knows a little bit more about football then you......he even roots for ND....but he said this morning that if Mich and ND were to end with one loss that ND SHOULD NOT jump ahead of Michigan........and who cares what you wonder if Michigan would be 3-0 if they played ND's schedule.......lets go by what happened ON THE FIELD, that should be all that matters.......ND blew their chance......I dont care if its rutgers, usc, arkansas or florida.....but ND should not be in the topic of an NC game.....

Everybody can have an opinion, including Mel Kiper. An intelligent person backs up his opinion. So why does Kiper put Michigan in over ND?

Should USC go to the BCS NC if they win out?

If the answer is YES, then why shouldn't ND go if they win out? That would mean ND beat USC @USC? The same USC team that you would put into the BCS NC if they had won out.

MOST people would put USC into the BCS NC if they win out.

all of this talk is a joke.....anybody can spin it anyway they want in any direction they want. This is why a play-off needs to be instituted.....to say this team or that team couldn't compete against this team or that team is a joke......no team is ever as bad or as good as they look on a given week. Was ND as good as they looked against Penn St., absolutely not......are they as bad as they looked against Michigan, absolutely not. To say things like scheduleing makes no difference on how said team plays is flat out lying.....we all bet on sports games and part of handicapping is looking at what teams did against who the previous week and who they have on deck the following week. To say ND wasn't ripe for the picking against Michigan after playing a tough night game at G-Tech and then a really good home opener against Penn St. is just not owning up to the reality of what emotion plays in athletics.....anybody that's ever stepped on a field or court knows how much emotion, focus, intensity plays into how said team plays....obviously there are times when teams are just not good on a given day, they are flat and the focus is not there.....is it an excuse, nope, it is reality of athletics on every level.....Ohio State didn't have it against Illinois....lucky for them it was Illinois and they escaped with the "W".....ND in '93 was the best team in the country bar none....yet the following week of the then "game of the century", they were flat as a pancake against BC and didn't get it together until it was too late. It is funny how Arkansas is considered a "different" team now as opposed to when they took a beatdown from USC but ND isn't from when they took one from Michigan......or when the argument of ND's win against Penn State was because Penn State had a rookie QB.....hmmmm, thought USC took a rookie QB on the road againist an Arkansas team returning 19 starters. To say ND or somebody else wouldn't stand a chance on a given weekend against another team is naive at best.....didn't anybody watch this past weekend.....even the deadly gators..........ranked 3rd.....should've lost to a team that couldn't do a thing right the previous two weeks at home against teams ranked lower than florida. I actually would love to see ND in the title game (although any bowl win at this point for me would be nice to see).......to have a punchers chance to win it all would be great.....is ND the best team in the nation....nope....but could they win on any given day against anyone.....hell yes.....just like a lot of other teams could.....that is why this sport needs to go the way of college b-ball and put this debate to bed on the field of play.

i agree with what you say and would love to see a playoff, but we dont have one.......so instead we waste our time in countless debates about he said she said crap.....makes the time go by leading up to the weekend........nothing more, atleast not for me

I agree dice......I love to debate......but I just hate it when people allow their hearts to supercede their minds in a debate.......shit, I can get that every weeknight on ESPN.....their talkiing heads are the epitomy of irrational, non-objectional, double-standard, purely spun, opinion based debaters out there. As it is for ND anyway, I honestly don't think we take out USC this year anyway.....so all of the haters probably don't have to worry.
