Seen Elton and Joel....much bigger fan of Elton but Joel stole the show that night. Would definitely see either again..

Queen would be pretty cool with original lineup if mercury not dead if that's allowed for your hypothetical

Metallica I've never seen and would like to as well

But for this question my one answer is guns n roses original lineup back together again

Phish is the best live act I have seen by a wide margin. Though I am half your age, I'd bet I have been to more live shows than you. Open your mind, boys. Mainstream artists aren't always the best artists.

OK, I hear you............but I've seen the real deal back in the olden days, starting with:

Elvis............serious
Page & Plant
Cocker 1970's
Rod Stewart 70's awesome
Stones 2 times
grand funk 10 time............unreal live
Yes
White Stripes..............WOW
MC5
Iggy and the Stooges in the 70's
Bowie...spiders from mars tour..........holy shit
AC/DC........I was trippin on acid
Savoy Brown
Shawn Phillips.........what a talent he is

If the question allows for past groups I would have to say Zep. If that isn?t allowed I would go with the Black Keys because I haven?t seen them.

Saw this combo at Wrigley a few years back, it was enjoyable but it paled to seeing Joel the year prior at the Last Play at Shea. Part of that was the myriad of guest performers he had though, Tony Bennett, Garth Brooks, Steven Tyler, Roger Daltrey and capped by Paul McCartney.

Other great shows were seeing No Doubt when they were first starting and Weezer opened for them. (ND was so much better at the beginning when they showed their punk/ska influences.) Also Rush puts on an amazing show and saw OK Go at an uber-small venue when they were first starting out.

Best part about those, in my opinion, is that I would consider none of those to be one of my favorite bands, its just that the live performance was so great.

the black keys are good (my fav band) though they dont play alot of what i think is their better stuff, in playing more of their newer stuff

i'd be realll interested to see which direction their sound goes in with their next album (while camino was good, was def more mainstrem driven -it seems, but good still)

i'd see

lcd soundsystem (no longer together)

or

daft punk

---interestingly enough, lcd soundsystem has a song called "daft punk is playing at my house"

as far as really good live shows, ive seen THE HIVES - and they were AWESOME live - and are weirdly paired up as the opening act for PINK right now - but verrrrrry good, fun

I've seen the bands I want to see but would like to see one at Red Rocks.

DMB at Red Rocks.

Current band but would like to turn back time a little to when they were a little more lively is Blue October. Great band, great lyrics and great show.

I heard John Stamos is going to play some drums with them on the next one. Guess his gig of filling in with the Beach Boys isn't going on anymore. When I heard this was going to happen it worried me that they are getting too gimmicky.

Just one............ Who would you see in a live venue?

Rolling Stones

:0corn

just saw them at The Barclay's Center in Brooklyn back in December. Great show :0074

If we are talking hypothetically (i.e. person is dead), then I would say Stevie Ray Vaughan. I must have seen him 20 times in the 1980's, and I sure would love one more opportunity to see him again. If we are talking physically possible, then there is a fairly new west coast blues group called The Mighty Mojo Prophets, who I would really like to see.

A friend of mine was telling me about this group, will have to check them out.

Remembered another good performance, Buckwheat Zydeco followed up by the Allman Brothers (w/ Derek Trucks) at Jazz Fest a few years back in NOLA.
