Don't forget Black Flag! Snuck into The Blue Note in Columbia, MO when I was 15 to see them. Drinking fuzzy navels and standing 5 feet from Henry Rollins flingiin sweat on the crowd. Awesome night! Thought I was the shit...

I'd pick Zep if I could see anyone...

Very cool, indeed....:toast:

Saw Black Flag play an all ages show at a church on a Saturday afternoon. After the show we were hanging out by the back door hoping to see the band come out. The door opens and Rollins and Greg Ginn step out and before we could say anything they are shaking our hands and saying thanks for coming. We are speechless for a second until Rollins says to me--hey, Your pretty solid, you must work out, too.
So we talk about lifting weights for a few minutes and then he asks if we are 21 yet---I tell him I'm 23 so he writes our names down and tells us we will be on the guest list for the show they are playing that night....:toast:
While the all ages show was great, you can imagine what the night one was like....:scared

Going to see Bernie Worrell and his band Saturday night....:00hour :00hour

The finest guitarist....ever. Didn't see the fateful Alpine Valley show but must have seen him close to 2 dozen times throughout the 1980's. The fact that he is not yet in the Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame is criminal

Don't take my word for it, how about Eric Clapton:

"I don't think anyone has commanded my respect more, to this day. The first time I heard Stevie Ray, I thought, "Whoever this is, he is going to shake the world." I was in my car and I remember thinking, I have to find out, before the day is over, who that guitar player is. That doesn't happen to me very often, that I get that way about listening to music. I mean, about three or four times in my life I've felt that way, in a car, listening to the radio, where I've stopped the car, pulled over, listened, and thought, I've got to find out before the end of the day, not, you know, sooner or later, but I have to know NOW who that is.

...and I remember being fascinated by the fact that he never, ever seemed to be...lost in any way...It was as though he never took a breather...or took a pause to think where he was gonna go next, it just flowed out of him. It's going to be a long time before anyone that brilliant will come along again.

I didn't get to see or hear Stevie play near often enough, but every time I did I got chills and knew I was in the presence of greatness. He seemed to be an open channel and music just flowed through him. It never seemed to dry up."
