Rusty, sorry if I aimed this at you because it is not about you. You just happened to be the one that sparked the blow up.

I've worked in a management role since 1997. Been to several diversity workshops and the biggest difference I've noticed in people is they are either there to work or they are there to collect a pay check. We all show up for the money, but some people seem to forget that you owe something in return other than your time. Somehow, it has become okay to be shitty at what you do and expect more in return.

I might be jaded because I see this type of mentality DAILY, but I just can't imagine walking into work and hoping to leave without burning any more calories than absolutely necessary....then bitching about not getting my fair share. If you were handed the keys to the business and everyone was counting on you to keep it afloat, how many of your co-workers would you "go to war with"?

I have heard that GE CEO Jack Welch would fire 10% of the workforce each year.....the bottom 10%. Seems harsh, but I guess that is the only way to stave off the entitlement. Give people a reason to do more than just show up and complain about not getting more.

Sorry for the rambling, but this is a subject I'm obviously passionate about.

Rusty... This is what I was referring to.

Here, you're long on honesty:

...but here, you're short on clarity:

Paying more what?

You serious.I need to explain this.Just read Tramps post on the middle class.

Some examples:
The odv. one Groceries.
Gas.
Utilities(pray the wind farm here in Mass. doesn't go ahead as planned or I will be paying more.).

Sum it up for ya big guy,its called the cost of living.Unless your not paying it ,you might not of heard of it who knows ?

Why are we paying more and making less??
No offense Rusty, but at times, you have a tendency to make vague generalizations and simplistic statements about complex problems.

On how many threads has this subject been debated ad nauseum here? On thread after thread, we've discussed the shrinking of the dollar and the shrinking of the middle-class and the myriad of forces that are driving both.

Then you ask... "Why are we paying more and making less??".

You still don't get it? Really??

Trench I really don't wanna get into a last post thing ,but I understand the reasons behind the way things are but it doesn't make it right.

How many people are on wage freezes in their current job.Or better yet how many have taken a job at a low wage ?I'm sure plenty.

One thing I do get is the cost of living goes up and up and up and wages go stagnant or sometimes even down. What gives.I personally have a problem with it.Plus our Gov;t takes and takes and takes.

Yah know, rusty, you ought to stop and think. Why are the real, inflation adjusted wages of the middle class declining?

Try these reasons:

Many of the best paying jobs have been lost to cheap labor in China, India and elsewhere. Those jobs could be protected by import tariffs, but business doesn't want tariffs, and Republicans see to it that business gets what it wants.

Who fought and sometimes died for good American wages and working conditions? Unions did. Even if you or no one in your family walked a picket line or paid a penny in union dues, you benefited as they caused better wages and working conditions for all. And who hates unions? Republicans do.

Every time you buy something made in China or some other shithole country, YOU are helping to export American jobs. When's the last time you paid an extra dollar or two for an American made product?

The government "takes" too much? Try adding it up sometime. How much tax money does the government tax YOU. And how much do you "take" from the government? Could you pay for private schools plus toll toads, plus private fire and police protection? How much benefit do you get from other government agencies? Would you be willing to use unapproved drugs, fly on uninspected airplanes, eat uninspected food? Have you collected unemployment compensation, used public libraries? Do you want the protedtion of the Military? Do you have relatives who are on Social Security or Medicare? Would you rather pay their living and medical bills out of your pocket?

Add it up, rusty, and stop being such a crybaby.

Well said Duff.

Ya know... it's classic. Over on the the Wal-Mart thread, we've got Doggie whining about the wealthy being over-taxed and on this thread we've got Rusty whining about the middle-class being over-taxed. And neither of them see any cause and effect relationship between the exporting of middle-class manufacturing jobs to maximize profits for the well-heeled, replacing those middle-class jobs with below poverty level paying jobs without benefits and the shrinking of the American middle-class.

As I've said before, it really is classic right-wing cognitive dissonance syndrome.

Hey Einstien... I don't condone drinking during working hours. Period. But tell me the difference between auto workers drinking on their lunch break and the millions of white collar workers who drink 3 martini lunches with clients or sit in airport lounges taking the "edge off" every day.

I never said I was against paying taxes. What I dont understand is why am I being double taxed meaning every time I buy something the government is in my pocket.

Which adds up to a 50 percent deduction .

One more time, rusty. How much does the government take from you, and how much do you take from the government?

Maybe you're from Sarah Palin's Alaska which takes $6 from the federal government for every dollar it pays in....and still they bitch.

They and maybe you, should join up with Russia. The folks in New Jersey who pay in $1 for every 50 cents they get back would bid you goodbye and good riddance.

Tramp in Mass. the tax rate (state included )is near 50%.Not speaking for other states.I found a good explanation on this site.

http://www.teapartypatriots.org/Gro...3ba79f/CropImage.aspx?imageType=group&groupId

So it safe to say were paying 35% if you think 50% is a stretch. To claim 50 is crazy really isn't because to tally the total is hard to do.

Not to mention methods being done to pay for irresponsible spending by local and gov't. authorities.

That site you quote from is quite a stinking load, rusty,

First off, many of the items listed are not taxes at all. They are fees, fines or penalties for completely optional personal choices.

Secondly there's the bogus claim that 47% pay no tax at all, and yet you won't be able to find a single person who doesn't pay some of the things on that list.

Stop the bullshit rusty and answer the simple question - How much do you pay in, and how much do you take out?
