stevie,
this issue has been debated extensively in this forum, & nobody is going to change anyone's mind.
but the bottom line is that saddam signed a contract, which btw, was saddam's idea to end the first gulf war. and like everyone else who signs a contract, he was expected to live up to that contract.
the problem in today's world is that people don't live up to contract that they sign & they make excuses for breaking it. major league ballplayers are examples of not living up to their contracts. that attitude is wrong, & as i tell my tenants when they sign a lease, both parties who sign the lease( contract) must follow it, & if not there will be reprecussions(sp?).
saddam did not live up to the contract that he signed, by either telling the international community where he kept the wmd, or to show proof that he destroyed them. he did neither & after stalling for 11 years, some leaders had the courage to call him on it, & he was fired.
