i rather be safe than sorry...& since we both work out of the house we don't use that much gas....so how much would i save by using a lower grade ?.....i would guess not much.
I've been told that it makes no difference for my car, but I've definitely noticed a 1-2 mpg improvement when I use premium instead of regular. Plus, the ride is smoother. It seems to be worth the added cost.

I always put 93 in my car. 'Have to' for the super charger.

The station I use is always CHEAPER for premium! Figure that out! I paid $3.35 for 93 today and reg 89 was $3.46.

2.91 to 2.99 here in Boston depending where you go and the time of day and if Tom Brady impregnates another model or not.
Use 93 every so often to clean out engine.

Yes, many like you disagree - but I've watched it closely and the numbers are there. ...Maybe I just have a good tailwind whenever I use premium. I don't know how this stuff works, but I'm pretty good at math.

every automotive engineer will tell you putting premium gas in an engine not designed for it is a waste of money.

"premium" is a misnomer, as the gas is not automactically better than low octane stuff. Octane isn't a measure of energy, but a measure of how well the fuel resists preignition.

But Toyotas and Honda engines are desgined to run so efficiently, I supposed it might be possible to get a few extra miles off premium gas.

considering that if you buy low octane fuel for an engine designed for high octane fuel, the engine (on modern cars) will automatically de-tune the engine by retarding the ignition timing of the engine and increasing the fuel/air mixture which will give worse performance and/or fuel economy.

But 1-2 mpg might be in the margin of error--as so many variables affect MPG. Just try romping on your brakes at freeway speed in the hybrid to avoid slow idiot doing that infront of you, then quickly get back up to safe freeway speed. The loss from that little maneuver will take you almost 100 miles of easy cruising to make up for it.
