I've been having some minor skin issues the past few months. So I had my blood tested for gluten sensitivity and a few other allergens. The blood report came back positive for gluten. Guess I'm gluten free for now.

Not 100% but pretty close. The test still came back high. Looks like I need to try harder. Average test range is from 85 to 385, mine was 565. Doc said that's very high. The older you get the more careful you need to watch what you eat.

That sucks, my wife and I have tried to go gluten free before to have a more healthy lifestyle. It's tough to do, gluten is in everything. In other words, we do it for a few weeks and go back to our old ways. One thing I have seen others do and we just did is buy a juicer. I've seen a lot of people do it and lose weight, and some of my gluten free friends swear by it. it's called the Breville and the number one juicer on Amazon. Here it is. While I do think gluten isn't good for you, I do think books like Wheat Belly go a bit overboard. However, I'm sure it effects different people in different ways.

We have numerous juice bars near me. I take advantage whenever I can. We also have many middle eastern restaurants that serve fresh non glutens meals. Looks like I know where I'll be eating today and days to come. Thanks kneifl

So you only became allergic to gluten a few months ago?

I always seemed to react to it. I was tested as a kid and it was there according to my mother. But the skin issue caused me to get re-tested. I have tried to cut out as much wheat and dairy as possible but the most resent skin issue has made me re-think it so I had newer blood work done.

Being a somewhat healthy person although I love my junk food I am not sure what gluten is....I see friends post on facebook that their Lupus is flared up because they ate gluten or their crohns disease is flared up. What exactly is gluten and what does it do?

Chicky google what is gluten. You'll find what you're looking for. It refers to the questions you asked.

My gluten test came back at 565. Doc said the typical range is 85 to 385. 85 being low and 385 being high. Because I tested off the chart he indicated I was highly allergic to gluten and not just sensitive.
