Roger Goodell and the Minnesota Vikings have an interesting decision to make regarding the availability of their star running back. Do you let him play? We have all seen the photos on the net regarding the boy's injuries but regardless of what we think the matter has been settled in court. $4,000 fine, probation, and 80 hours of community service. Sitting 8 games thus far has been fair and I think the next step is to fine him for 6 games worth of game checks. That's it. Is it a light punishment? Yes but that is what a court ruled, for those who want him suspended for the season or banned from football, I hope you aren't the ones pounding the political forum about rights being taken away by your government. Now to me this is the right thing for the NFL to do in light of the punishment handed down. For the NFL to go beyond it to me is giving Roger Goodell too much power over a league that he has grossly over adjourned and has quite frankly made a worse product. I'm not happy about what AP did, but I can forgive him this one time.
Now as a fan, I really could care less if he comes back this season or ever at all to my team. In reality I hope the Vikings are able to trade him or get his cap number off the books next season so they can sign some offensive linemen or other players the team needs to get over the hump. Would I have said that before the emergence of McKinnon? Probably not, but Peterson's presence isn't going to make the team a playoff contender this season but a return this year will make him tradeable during the off season.
