It's time for Peterson to play.

Where it is real F ing COLD
Roger Goodell and the Minnesota Vikings have an interesting decision to make regarding the availability of their star running back. Do you let him play? We have all seen the photos on the net regarding the boy's injuries but regardless of what we think the matter has been settled in court. $4,000 fine, probation, and 80 hours of community service. Sitting 8 games thus far has been fair and I think the next step is to fine him for 6 games worth of game checks. That's it. Is it a light punishment? Yes but that is what a court ruled, for those who want him suspended for the season or banned from football, I hope you aren't the ones pounding the political forum about rights being taken away by your government. Now to me this is the right thing for the NFL to do in light of the punishment handed down. For the NFL to go beyond it to me is giving Roger Goodell too much power over a league that he has grossly over adjourned and has quite frankly made a worse product. I'm not happy about what AP did, but I can forgive him this one time.

Now as a fan, I really could care less if he comes back this season or ever at all to my team. In reality I hope the Vikings are able to trade him or get his cap number off the books next season so they can sign some offensive linemen or other players the team needs to get over the hump. Would I have said that before the emergence of McKinnon? Probably not, but Peterson's presence isn't going to make the team a playoff contender this season but a return this year will make him tradeable during the off season.

Should Ray Rice be back in the league?

Yes he should he has a good case too. NFL implemented it's policy of 6 games then changed their minds once they saw the video. What did they expect to see? Now if he is suspending Ray Rice for lying then that maybe different but if he is being suspended solely on what happened then yes he should be back because the NFL had a policy in place once they lengthened suspension.

Ray Rice will never play football again though because I don't see a team signing him

Peterson has been getting paid the entire time he has been off. He should be suspended for the rest of the season. Without pay!!!

It's interesting to see how fans of certain teams react in situations like this. Much seems to depend on how good a player is.

I wonder if there will be a major protest at the Vikings games if Peterson comes back, much like the one when the redskins were in town.

As for me, I don't think 8 games with pay is much of a punishment at all. I don't care that he plead guilty to a misdemeanor. He is a bad guy and doesn't deserve to come back yet.

Maybe next year.

I understand this logic and it wouldn't bother me as a fan. I don like Goodell and his power plays. I let te court decide. Godell is ruling the league

This is one of the times that I don't think that the league should take its cue from the judicial system. The guy pleads to a "lesser" charge so he should have a less harsh punishment? What happens if a player beats his girlfriend but she doesn't press charges? Should the player go unpunished? The NFL has to protect the integrity of the the league no matter how light his civil punishment. $4000 and community service...

The league is in a tough spot. Roger is already under a microscope and for good reason. But he is stuck between the Players Union, the ownership group (his boss), the general public, fans of the NFL and sponsors.

Wouldn't it be much easier if players acted like decent humans and stopped screwing up? Maybe then everyone could concentrate on football.

Would you lose your job? I wouldn't lose mine if chargers were dropped and I wasn't found guilty of anything. Peterson should have fought this, he would have won but I think he thought this would be a way back into the league this year. The grand jury wasn't going to even look at this case until the Rice video came out. The Texas judge accused the prosecution of being "media whores" prosecution tried to remove judge but it didn't work so then they started to bargain. Many lawyers have said that the only reason this went to trial was because of his name. At any rate i hope he is gone next year

Would I lose my job? Probably. I'd lose all of my customers for sure if they found out what I did.

That said, I'm not the face of a multi billion dollar franchise.

How could anyone clap their hands and cheer and scream when this guy scores a touchdown?

He shouldn't be in the NFL this year and maybe ever.

It seems like Nike agrees. They just dropped him.

they went the route they went because he would never had been convicted of a felony .

they got what they could get him for..

now the league needs to honor labor agreement discipline policy and move on..

you can't make the rules up as you go along..

he has been given a decree and now the league must react accordling..

meaning he has THE RIGHT TO GO BACK TO WORK.

Exactly my point. Rumor here now is Vikings hope Goodell suspends him rest of season and wash their hands of him. I don't think he will be a Viking next year

They don't need the leagues permission. If that we're true they could have cut him months ago.
