Our renewal date isn't until May 2014 but we were given the option to renew in October for a 4% increase. They told us if we waited after December it could increase anywhere from 30-100% so we renewed NOW.

Thanks for weighing in Weasie, too bad you were and are unaware that this "bill" was passed years ago and the "constitutionality" of it was already decided on by the Supreme Court. Way to keep up with the facts of the matter. Yes, I can't tell you how much my chest puffs out with pride when someone tells me, "I don't care, I got mine, so I don't really care" and then proves it with a post like yours.

No worries though, I am sure you put at least as much effort into researching your local, state, and federally elected officials stance on domestic policies and other such policies as you did learning about this one Apathy kicks ass doesn't it.

Okay, I am not suggesting that anyone sit back and enjoy. What got me high and to the right on this is the attitude that this is the President's doing, he set the prices. He did this. That simply isn't true. Health care reform has been a hot button issue since Roosevelt. Insurance companies became exceedingly wealthy by denying coverage, putting life time spending limits on things, slow paying physicians, and the list goes on for far too long for me to write. This was also aided by the high mark up from practitioners. For instance, SAINT, I am curious what do you charge for a crown on a front tooth? In other words, many practitioners have over an 1100% mark up that they charge people. When someone that has no insurance goes to the doctor, they get charged the full office rate but that isn't what the insurance company pays. They pay the "insurance" rate. Something had to be done. Our population is growing and we couldn't take care of the sick. The fact that this is an issue in this country when so many other countries have fantastic and free health care to every citizen is deplorable. Corporate Greed made those price brother not the President. System wide abuse and outrageous profit set these prices. We, as a country, refuse to heal the sick and needy but we claim to be the greatest country in the world? Has anyone read the Statue of Liberty's message lately. What a fucking joke.

Look, the fact is that the ACA was passed by Congress and enacted. It is the law of the land, nobody liked the seat belt law at first either but at least everyone uses them now. Republicans came up with this plan years ago and now they keep trying to subterfuge for political gain. Saint said his premiums went up 25% due to the President, yet doesn't mention that BCBS alone offers him 26 different plans to choose from now with varying degrees of coverage at different prices and it is better coverage now, because of the ACA. What is really ironic is that Dental coverage is outrageously expensive, much more so than major medical, so he is kind of fucked there. The entire Congress voted on this thing and it passed with a fucking super majority, quit blaming the black guy.
