so i go to mow the lawn today for the first time this year. first, i have to charge the dead battery. no problem.

battery all charged and she fires right up. great.

drive her outta the garage, pull her into position and engage the blade. friggin blade won't engage.

i figure it's a little stiff so i ride around at all different speeds. stop, try it again and again and again. no go.

other than leave it out back all winter long through the snow and cold and ice and rain and sleet, i wonder what could be wrong.

christ!

pull it back into the garage and look under it, around it, from the top, the bottom, clean old grass out from 6 months ago. i can't find the problem so i booked sears to come out saturday morning.

any suggestions for me to fix it tomorrow so i can cancel sears coming out with their $96 minimum charge even if they don't do anything?

Don't you have an asshole neighbor that haggles you about drinking beer and mowing?

Or something like that,,,

It worked fine when you put it away?

yes, but i never put it away. it stayed out in my back yard all winter. rust, i guess.

it's definitely a cable problem but the cable isn't broken it's just not pulling things together.

It's a cable and not direct linkage?
don't know what you mean. you lift this gear shift thingy up and the blade engages. there is a cable attached to that gear shift thing. last year it broke and i had to have sears come out and replace it. that cable is fine and the belts are fine. maybe the blade is just stuck. i didn't check that. maybe it's rusted into place
