I'm happy about this, these services cost a fraction as much, the drivers get paid well and keep their cars clean for the customers. Also, the drivers are much friendlier. The tracking is a big plus too if I need to send a car for someone. Hope this becomes the industry norm.

The way Uber works now is by using an app and they come get you, something like that, right?

Since they are allowed to operate and there is so much business in Vegas, what's to stop a driver from getting into a taxi line and operating just like a taxi does? Wouldn't Uber be a better opportunity for drivers than working for a cab company? It's going to be a mess out there. :142smilie

Do Uber drivers have a meter?

What's to stop an Uber driver from picking up random people and not reporting the fare to Uber?

The way Uber works is the type of vehicle you have available.

you have to go thru all kinds of checks, have insurance, and the car must be at least a 2005.

SUV, small car, mercedes etc you can request\.Uber drivers pay for gas and upkeep.

you sign up with Uber with a credit card.

When you need to go somewhere the drivers have a app and can see you need them and how close they are. They are assigned the fare.

No cash exchanges hands. Uber charges your card and the driver is paid a flat rate for each fare . Uber drivers get a check every week.

Uber drivers can work as much or as little as they want.

I think when it all averages out they make 10 to 11 bucks a hour.

not bad for a part time gig. You got to enjoy people.

But you know you are not going to get hoodlums in your car. They are vetted.

any complaints and they are out of the service.

UBER and LYFT are app based on GPS ... they are set to pick up the nearest person to the request for a ride ... it is attached to your debit card, credit card or Paypal so it is cashless

KOD is wrong on several things he posted as he is not a driver

you can tip UBER with cash but LYFT has a tip option when you finish the ride

UBER has lowered the driver car standard to 2000 so they are putting POS cars on the road and have been hiring cab drivers and pissing alot of riders off

you would not know a rider if you didnt have the app so you cant just pick people up without it ... you could and cancel the ride then give people a ride off the app but you would be caught quick and lose that option

there is no meter as it is based on time and distance ... it averages 40-50% less than a cab and you are riding in a nicer car with mostly local people that can communicate with you, tell you the sites, places to eat and drink etc

you cant get in a taxi line as those are regulated and ride sharing platforms are not regulated and that is why cabs are fighting them everywhere ... they are GPS oriented to nearest driver ... you can actually watch your car drive right up to you on the app and then you get a text when we arrive

we make variant amounts of pay ... during the day is pretty low ... at night it goes up and especially late night when drunks need rides home ... you know I love my beer but its not near as fun driving hammered people around when you aint one of them ... I usually logoff before midnight because of this but lots of drivers make big bucks at closing time... when special events like concerts, sporting events are happening they raise the rates up and you make 2-3x

during a week I avg 15-20$ which is not much but beats sitting on your ass making nothing

ask all you want as I drive for both platforms while I look for a job

ALSO PLEASE use my codes for a FREE $20 credit on 1st rides ... just enter these codes when you sign up on the app

no you dont have to purchase additional insurance but you have to show proof of your insurance before being set up to drive

yes its an independent contractor position and they direct deposit to your bank each week

Exactly ... after you are an approved driver they send you an app for a driver ... it is 24/7 so whenever you want to work you just click the app to be active and when you want to end just tap the screen where it says go offline

I tend to hangout and drive around popular areas like where the hotels are, the entertainment areas and Downtown ... usually average about 2 rides per hour

anyone here can use my codes and share them with your friends ... you could use UBER going one way and LYFT coming home and get $20 free on both rides :0008

Thanks Dunclock ! If you are in an accident & they sue Uber can they also sue you personally to recover additional medical cost ? Can you write off part of your cell phone bill and get mileage write off ?

UBER carries no responsibility on accidents but LYFT charges $1.50 per ride charge for Safety and includes up to a million in coverage ... here is from the site
https://www.lyft.com/safety

as an independent contractor I write off ALL personal costs such as phone, gas, depreciation and $.55 a mile for driving ... which you need all write offs as you are not paying taxes each week on your deposits

the way you make your earnings and to make easy numbers ... it is 80%/20% on the fare rate

so if you have a $10 ride then you make $8 and UBER/LYFT make $2 ... UBER charges YOU a $1 rider fee ... LYFT charges $1.50 back to the rider which includes the additional coverage ... so I make $8 with LYFT and usually a tip but only $7 with UBER

this is why I like LYFT better ... they also have a tip option at the end ... if you want to tip an UBER driver it must be cash at end of ride ... LYFT has less drivers on the road as UBER just wants NUMBERS ... that is why they are taking cars back to 2000 now and they are hiring cab drivers which is why the platform took off to get away from cabs
