The other thread was stagnant bc I wasn't writing anything, so I decided to start another. Sometimes I just feel like what I have going on just isn't very interesting.

I enjoyed hanging out with Feelgood, Jack, Terry Ray, and Betone this last week. We had a nice casino hit and run session last Friday with winners all around. We started at the Westgate and proceeded to the SLS where we had a very hot shoe. When the dealer busts multiple times, you make money. Next stop was the Linq, but we couldn't get a table there, so on to the Flamingo where we all won again. The Cromwell and Bally's were both full, so we sat down to another winner at Planet Hollywood. We were very selective (mainly me and my superstition checklist I like to go by), and it worked out.

SixFive's BJ rules
1) only play with Asian women dealers if they are young and hot. They are otherwise a no-go.
2) never sit at an empty table.
3) never place your first bet if the table just won. I don't like to mess up anybody's rhythm just like I don't like them to mess up mine.
4) when the shoe starts heading south and you are up, color up! Don't just sit there and take those dealer 5 and 6 card 21s. Once those start to fall, get up!
5) if somebody buys in with a Grant, leave immediately!
6) never sit at a 6/5 table.

These might seem silly and superstitious, but it's what works for me, so I stick to it.

As written in the other thread, we ran in to the trooper and socialized with him a bit. I have a few pics to post.

Climbing out of bed.

When you work night shift, you tend to care for elderly patients. I admitted Bob days ago. He fell on the ice in Las Vegas, and he broke his hip.

ce5970a49fb54345f6adcab843b69100.jpg

Bob was completely alert and oriented then at age 83, and he was retired from being a bartender at several local casinos. After his surgery, however he became very confused. Confusion is a huge risk for the elderly in the hospital especially when they undergo anesthesia. Anyway, all night tonight Bob is trying to get out of bed. He has bed alarms, and he's in a camera room, so the people in the camera room have been calling us all night to tell us Bob is getting out of the bed.

Bob also couldn't pee, so we had to put in a catheter. Later he asked, "why is it that a man can't be allowed to take a piss at night?" I laughed so hard, and I couldn't help it. Poor Bob. He's about to get restrained if this keeps up. I hate restraining patients, but it would be terrible if he fell in the floor.

I called in a prescription to Walgreens last night at 7:30 pm. 3 hours to fill it  How can it possibly take 3 hours to put 30 pills in a bottle. Customer service in general is not too hot out here. Any needs medically you might have will be met with poor under-staffing. There aren't enough physicians, nurses, pharmacists, physical therapists, etc. Health care is like a black hole here.

Here's a picture of a burnout I snapped that had just left the hospital. He's wearing a paper scrub top, and he still has on the hospital armband. I'm guessing he probably spent the night in the hospital "drunk tank" and was released early the next morning. He and his gf/wife were sharing that cigarette and puffing on it like it was the last they would ever have.

S
I was going to help some homeless people yesterday until I saw them smoking. I can't justify helping them if they have the means to buy cigarettes. Judgemental? Probably

Yesterday, I also filed my taxes. My healthcare expenses came out to be 9.5% of my AGI, so I can't claim that expense. So close, and what a waste keeping those receipts all year was. My health insurance went up to $540 a month this year too, and that blows because it's terrible.

Driving to take my taxes, I heard an impact to my car. I saw a pigeon fly up, so I thought maybe one was startled and flew into my car. When I stopped, however, it became apparent that I had been the victim of some mischief
f45925a2e9bd228f330e9bef71a44616.jpg

I never saw the perpetrator, and I had a heck of a time getting that off my car.

Tonight at work, I have 8 busy patients. The first had dialysis, and now I'm transfusing a unit of blood. The next guy is easy, the next lady has blood sugars that are out of control, and the next lady is an easy total shoulder replacement. The next poor lady sadly fell and fractured her femur and humerus. She's having surgery to repair her femur late this evening. Her husband dotes on her but is annoying to us.

The next patient has a hand cellulitis that is all bandaged since surgery. After telling me how good looking I am, he then points to his wrist and says, "sugar, I can't even do the gay sign now, but I can still say, HEEEyYYY!"
I had to give this knucklehead insulin. He told me to hold up while he used the urinal. When he was done, he said he wanted the shot in his belly I went to give him the shot, and he had his hard dick hanging out. I just threw the covers over him and pretended not to notice or care..

Upstairs watching sports on the big TV.
The standard response to the question posed to long time locals...
"Where in Las Vegas
does a person go when needing serious medical attention?

McCarren International to catch a flight to Los Angeles..."

Tip of the hat to ya sixfive...your waging the good battle...:0008

I just know that anything requiring a specialist in Laughlin/Bullhead City comes straight to Las Vegas.

The guy I mentioned above flat out sexually harassed me. He called me, "Babe"! and "cutie". He also admitted to knowingly having HIV infected unprotected sex with hundreds of men, and he seemed to have absolutely no compunction. He received a phone call while I was in his room. He told me later it was one of his lovers. He then volunteered that he has had over 1,000 unique lovers. I just don't let stuff phase me. I strongly believe that People like him who are such obvious pieces of shit will in the end reap what they have sown. I have a job to do, and I just limit my interaction to the bare minimum required by my job tasks.

I think it's a Walgreen thing. I refuse to get any prescriptions filled there, I have walked in before handed them my prescription and they tell me will be 1.5 -2 hours? WTF? No way!

Laughlin is not Vegas, there is no glitz or glamour, no sex industry no high roller wanna-bees, just quiet desert town with a beautiful river running through it. There are 2 or 3 hospitals for the elderly, but nothing special I can assure you. Most good doctors would not want a practice here. Gas is currently $1.45 per gallon and the cost of living is cheap.

The good news, there are no traffic jams or congestion of any kind. You can get around town any time of the year without any hassles, (except bike week) which happens each spring.

Also any sports bet you can make in Las Vegas, (high or low limits) you can make here, without long lines or hassles. A guy made a $50,000 bet on Denver here and got paid the next day..:0008

you can buy single family homes as low as 75,000 or estate homes on a golf course for $750,000. There is diversity here.

Work was super busy this week. The hospital is struggling with having enough nurses to take care of the patients, and that is complicated by the ER being over capacity (ER here never goes on diversion). There were patients waiting outside the ER because it was so full. It's a complete zoo. I worked down there last night, and it's not my thing.

I took this video leaving work. It's nothing special; I just love jets and flying. We are going to Seattle tomorrow for the weekend to celebrate B's birthday and our anniversary.

https://vimeo.com/155916050

I couldn't sleep today, so I went out to play poker. The Hard Rock was running, and I love that game. I sat next to the Ice Man again, and I played well, got nice cards, and had horrible competition. I played 2 hours and 20 minutes, and I had increased my starting stack from $200 to $900, so I quit a nice quick winner.
