Living in Las Vegas Part 2
Thursday
My Work week is completed, so we decided to out to eat at Sakana. I had the Chanel roll, the Dancing Eel roll, shrimp tempura, pang, and Nigiri that consisted of Ocean Trout, Super white tuna, and Eel. I did well not overeating, and I left satisfied.
B has been wanting a Wii U, so we stopped by Toys r Us, and we bought one. B is going to work on some crafts and shirts and suggested I go play poker if I wanted. I was going to go play the $125 tourney at the Aria, but I was very tired from working and little sleep, so I took a two hour nap and headed to the Hard Rock. I was second on the list, and I snapped a picture of the famous Ice Man as I waited.
I started slowly, dropping $125 in the first hour, so I added on $200 more. Things still were going slowly when I looked down at QK [emoji815]️in the cutoff. I raised to $15 and was 3 bet to $40 by the big stack. This guy was Japanese, and several at the table had been talking about him and how he had been killing the game there this week. He also hit the Royal Flush there the previous night for $1800, and currently he had a dime. He had been fairly aggressive, and I only remember him going to showdown once when he had the nut flush.
I called, so it was heads up to a flop of 10 J 2 rainbow. He bet 80, and I called with my open ender and two overs. The turn was the inconsequential 5[emoji812]️. He checked, so I pushed all in with a nearly pot sized bet of $210. He tanked for two minutes and slid forward calling chips. Fock!! I wanted to take it down there, but the river brought the A[emoji814]️ for the nut Ace high straight and winner for me [emoji3]. The guy looked like I hit him in the stomach when I quickly showed my hand, and he sheepishly turned over his set of jacks
Yes I was far behind, and I won, but remember, he checked to me and I semi-bluffed then hit. Had he bet the turn, I would have folded.
The next hand of note I had two red 8s. There was a $10 raise and 5 players saw the K 10 10 flop. It checked around to the turn when a nice fat black 8 hit! My opponent bet $60, and I called. The river was a meaningless duck, and my opponent bet $100. I thought and settled on just calling the bet. He turned over trip 10s, and I showed the winning 8s full of 10s. This meant I got to spin the wheel, and of course I hit the worst prize (Hard Rock hat). I found out that you get to spin the wheel if you make a full house or better using a pocket pair or both cards for a straight flush. I could have won up to $200.
I played fairly TAG after this. The Ice Man moved to my end of the table, and in a span of three straight hands he was dealt QQ which he folded to pressure and AA twice where he got no action. He was dealt pocket Aces three more times the next hour, and he won the blinds all but once when he stacked a guy for $200 that had pocket Jacks and didn't improve. Teddy was lamenting the fact he was getting no action, and I told him we all knew how he played and we're not calling raises from him. I was never dealt aces the entire 4+ hours I played.
I won a few more pots, and the game was getting short, so I cashed out $1070 for a $670 winner. Here's an overhead picture ($125 stacks). I again did not play any table games, so I booked that entire win.
I love to win, and even more, I like to get home with all that money hahaha!
One last picture of Teddy chatting up a very tall professional table side. This girl was striking, but had a pretty obvious habit of some sort. Ice Man later claimed he was just doing his PR for the Hard Rock. He says he is an employee ambassador and was even wearing a necklace advertising some upcoming event.
