I am looking for a new charcoal grill. I have a JennAir gas grill and its all rusted and I can't even get it to light now. I am going back old school. But I want a heavy duty grill I can have for life. I know some of you have the EGG, I may buy one of those I haven't made up my mind yet. Are there any other brands to look at in the 500-1000 price range? I mainly like to cook steaks, chicken, pork chops over direct heat and occasionally smoke a brisket.

Its tough to beat a basic Weber kettle grill. Around $100 and will last 25 years if kept out of the rain. If you are getting back into coal I would get a chimney coal starter too. Never need lighter fluid again.

You can smoke bbq in them too.

If you have the cash, I'd get an egg though.

Money is no object, I just want a good grill that is made well and not have to replace every 10 years like my last two gas grills, does anyone here bit like their egg? That's what I am leaning toward

Must have got rid of the baby sitter/girl friend................

yep, sure did :0008 about a year ago...no more 350 for kids birthdays either  there for awhile I was out of control spending money a couple years ago after getting divorced, hitting the strip clubs, taking trips to vegas, etc...I think I spent in the neighborhood of 50 grand between April 1 2011 - September of last year :scared

Do you have an egg, Sports? do you like it, should I get the big one or the medium one?

You'll love the Egg then. Go all out and get the good accessories too, they make a good difference. I have had mine for around 7-8 years and it cooks like a champ.
