My only view on this is based on supply in demand. If there are more kids needing adoption than straight couples willing to adopt, then I think gay adoption is a no-brainer.
My guess is two loving parents is always better than foster care.
Beyond that I won't argue with your concern, because I just don't have enough information about how gay adoptions work out.
OK lets say the adopted child is taken in by two loving gay males.
One night while sitting doing his homework he asks you
why do I have two Dads and all the kids at school have a Dad and a mom ?

Please no answers until we hear Hedgehog's answer.
As soon as she gets done making dinner, I'm gonna tell her what you said
my father was definitely in the minority as he taught me to judge every person individually no matter skin color, nationality, sex, etc as how do you "hate" someone that you have never met and do not know?
do gay family's with adopted kids attend all the PTA meetings and sports games and all the kids school activites ? I assume they would.
Now you got your kid explaining to other kids why he has two Dads .
Will the stigma be too much for the kid and send him to counseling to sort it out now or
later in his life when he dont know if he should be a double Dad or more traditional ?
...................................................................................................................................KOD, I have twins that play on my boys soccer team. This will be their 6th season I believe. I didn't even realize they had two dads until the 4th season. I knew one of the guys was their "dad" but I thought the other guy was an uncle or something. Then one day I asked them "who dropped you off today?" One of them looked at me and said their dad did. Well I knew from an email that day that their "dad" was out of town and that's when it hit me. I never knew because their dads are both jocks and work out at the gym I belong to. This is the same way with my business partner. He's as manly as it gets and unless you knew he was gay nobody would ever even think it. IMO these kids don't know anything other than they have two loving parents and that's all that matters.
Not one kid on our team has ever asked why they have two dads. I always thought one of them would at least say something but not a word. More importantly not one of the kids care. Actually I'm pretty sure they're are at least two boys on my team that would love to have two dads and that's because they don't even really have one. They've both played for me for 10 seasons now and neither of their dads has ever come around.
I'm not saying having two dads or moms would be easy but I think they're more ok with it than you and I could ever imagine.

This is an interesting and sad thought. Not cause it makes your dad a bad guy, but just the thought that the majority of gay people who are about 30-40 years old had a father that threw a fit or doesn't speak to them anymore.
I like to hope that it's probably less than 50%, and I know the generation that we are recruiting now isn't facing the same rate of rejection. :0008
so they weren't hiding it, it just wasn't discussed.
Seems after 4 yrs they might have felt more comfortable about it
its good your kids never asked you about it. shows acceptance of teammates to a degree
