Every single time there's a replay challenge, the commentator (no matter which one) always has to repeatedly say that same phrase as if this is the first game anyone has ever seen:

"THERE MUST BE IREFUTABLE EVIDENCE....."

yes, we know. we've known for as long as the rule has been around. we knew even before that thanks to OJ. Blow your irefutable evidence out your ass!

These are used on the boards very much, but the "phrase" and "word" I cannot tolerate are:

"At the end of the day" I swear this is only used when people want to either make an excuse for one of their errors that day, or could care less about what happened as long as they expereinced positive results. (Ex. Sure I screwed them on their pricing, but "at the end of the day", I made a sale!)

"orientated" As there is no such word, it is "oriented" So please don't add the "at" to it!!

Good manners can be very annoying. When one guy has the opposite side as the other guy, he still says "Good luck with your play". ....Why? When someone's opposite me, I wish them miserable luck with their play. The worse their luck is = better luck for me.

"bump"

especially, "bump" by the orginal poster who has a winning night and needs to show everyone when no-one responds.

Anyone who uses the word "release" when giving out their picks. "I'll be releasing my play later today". Only touts "release" plays. Go release it into a strong wind.

========================================

People who say "I will add you to my prayers", like every prayer is one point towards saving someone, or "please say a prayer for my dog Skip who I accidentally shot this afternoon". This just rubs me the wrong way.

Do you really make up a list of people who you are going to pray to God for? Do you actually get down on your knees at night and pray? (If you do good for you, but I seriously doubt any of you do this). Do you really think you have the power to save someone if you get enough people to pray in unison? Do you REALLY think it works this way? Is this just God Drive-Thru? "OK, God, here's my order, errr... the list of people I'm praying for tonight. Please watch out for Fred, Tina and James. Oh, and I'm also praying for that guy who just had surgery today who that other guy on the forum asked us to pray for. OK, ya got that? Save those people. Thanks big guy".

Or maybe you just say "I will add you to my prayers" because you think it sounds good. It doesn't. It sounds elitist and phony and naive all wrapped up in one to me.

funny ... but true. now of course, there are times when people genuinely mean it. but the ol' "good luck with your play" normally seems like it's a way for most people to wipe their hands clean of an incendiary bashing post they just made.

Not that this is a word or phrase, but every thread Worm ever started getting bumped is a bit much at this point. Let's just be happy his true colors were exposed.

Thanks for that Clem. You're in my prayers tonight too. :)

Just to be clear though, since I will no doubt catch shit for this... I'm not anti-God or anti-religion. I am actually a fairly spiritual person, and believe fully and without exception in everyone's right to believe in whatever/whoever they believe in.

I am anti- "the concept that God keeps score" however, and anti- "the concept that God will save the popular, but couldn't care less about those who don't get enough prayers". I just don't believe that God is someone who is so simple-minded that the # of prayers is what really would matter to him, or that he has an ego so big that he's in need of being catered to.

And I just seriously doubt most posters who do claim to be "sending out prayers" actually do.

Anyways, didn't mean to turn this thread into a giant God rant.

Cripes, I guess I had that bottled up inside for a while.

and for i.e, and apparently in memory of i.o.:

Title of Post: "MY GAME OF MONTH"

Post 1: "will be back shortly". just getting set up here.

Post 2 (after throwing the darts and to bump up to top of page)

this "free pick" is for you guys to tail. "trust me" that it won't lose. "myself," i'm new here but win at an 80 percent clip posted at another board.
the "public" and "squares" are all over this one.
"sharps" like myself are laying the lumber. "I made so much money on heavy favorites". Theres a reason they are heavy favorites. "Easy money" on this one boys. "My sources " say this can't miss. the game is fixed. "Easy money" boys. This game is gonna win "Huge" for you guys.

Post 3 (after his team is up 4 at the half and to rebump to top of page): "Never in doubt fellas"

Posts 4-15: other mj members calling him or her out after the game inevitably loses by 15.

Post 16: Original poster is fed up now and chimes in with: " I got news for you buddy," I wager more on a game than you do in a month. "what a joke some of you are," you cant win every time, but i win 90 percent of my plays.

Thread dies into oblivion:

Then, mysteriously within the next week this same poster will go into the sportsbook forum and ask about a $50 sign up bonus, or whats a good book for 10 team teasers.
