Upstairs watching sports on the big TV.
Just found this thread...Been living here for almost a year Dead Money, and I have only been to one buffet (Red Rock)...it was terrible.

I work Sun-Wed so if you like to golf hit me up and we can go chase the white ball around.

Thanks for the offer, had to give golf up a few years ago (herniated discs).
Buffets are so much a personal taste choice, wife and I been trying out different restaurants lately; kinda burned out on buffets.
Our only buffets of choice are GVR (green valley ranch) and Caesars.

Found a great burger place you might like, Bachi Burger (Sahara and Ft Apache next to Regal theater. in Village Square)
Everything Organic and homemade.

Wife had a Burger made of Double Ground Aged Angus, Shrimp and Pork.....I had a Wagyu sliced short rib steak sandwich that brought tears to my eyes.....brother in law had "Uncle Ho burger" Marinated Angus, Lup Cheong sausage, sauteed onions.
Burgers $7.50 and up to about $12.00.

Guaranteed you will like. Don't go on weekends, hour wait.

Money, I visit family in Summerlin several times a year. We go to Chicago Brewing Company for happy hours, which I believe is at the front of that same shopping center. I never noticed Bachi Burger before but I'm going again in April. Will check it out.

I can throw a rock and hit both from where I live, what a coincidence....I have been to Chicago Brewing Co and it was great, gonna have to try Bachi now, saw it on Triple D too....

DM, try Hash House a Go Go for breakfast and bring your appetite...right down the street from the places you guys mentioned on Sahara!:0074

Doc, they took me to a breakfast place called JAMMS. We got on Summerlin Parkway for an exit and it's on Rainbow. Huge portions and delicious food. They bake their own bread in different flavors and you can have that instead of regular toast. Also one of the few places I've been to in vegas that served NY/NJ style homefries. We had Hash House at the M resort. That was really good and again, huge portions of food

Poker in Vegas is on the downswing...

I cut my teeth on poker in Vegas in the Seventies on seven card stud.
Everyone had it, after all it was Vegas.

The closest I can find today in ALL of Vegas, is a hi-lo seven card stud game at Suncoast ONCE a week.

These greedy casino owner fux are not happy till its ALL mindless slots and no employees to pay.

Eventually, limited poker will only be available at a few solid Vegas enclaves.

Been playing a lot of Omaha hi-lo...a lot better than trying to stay awake at the hold-em table with 2 crap cards over and over.

Terry Fator, Bill's Casino outfits, Quad

Terry Fator, Bill's Casino outfits, Quad

Not much worth reporting; cold winter, ran heater once last year, this year heat on most of Dec-Feb in evenings and nite.

Daytime highs in 60's thru mid 70's last few weeks, trees been in bloom for about a couple weeks.

The "Quad" (Imperial Palace) is open during remodeling with gaming tables starting at $5.00....brighter color scheme and new lighting by same people that did "Redrock Resort.
Casino"

Terry Fator show (about $79) Monday nite was a blast. Good family fun, no profanity...very talented singer, ventriloquest. Puppet Characters run the spectrum from Winston the turtle, Elvis Impersonator, Country singer, Soul Singer, Duggie the stoner entpreneur, to an "Out of the closet" type.
The funniest part was a picked spectator chosen to dress as Dolly Parson and fitted with a remote controlled mask, Terry did the rest.

A fun thing in Vegas for us, is shopping thrift stores....saw the most amazing thing today; a 6 foot tall Chinese crossdresser...."her" cart was full of treasures... a month a go I picked up a high dollar European leather jacket for $9.00.
It amazes us, the quality and quantity of fine shoes and clothes that can be had for next to nothing.

Many thrifts get the leftovers from trade shows and closed exhibits...I picked up official "Titanic" exhibit caps for 25 cents (nice family gifts)

One thrift had hundreds of Dealer, Food service, Valet, outfits from the recently closed "Bills" gambling hall...picked up a high dollar chefs smock for my Brother in law for $3.99.

Vacation winding down for us...we are revisiting our most favorite eating places and stocking up on summer clothes for home.

Been a fun 3 months, looking forward to winning some March Madness money.
The slots and video poker has been mostly unkind to us, the poker gods have lately been brutalizing my bankroll....have never seen a run of bad cards as long as this.
I guess that is why there are SO many churches in Las Vegas....I can almost hear the anguished pleas on Sunday mornings...Dear Lord, "Baby needs a new pair of shoes".

Never played stud live as I have been playing only about 7 years or so. Played 4/8 limit at Bellagio for several hours when there in Jan.

Ever play Big-O? Pretty popular in my local room but limit never goes however.

Omaha hi?....have not tried it, seems pretty popular at many casino poker rooms, easier to find than 4-8 hi-lo; might have to try it sometime.
Casino poker rooms shy away from lo rake games...hold-em you get 40+ hands an hour; I timed Omaha hi-lo one random hour, it was 18 hands. Explains popularity of no-limit at casinos, much more rake potential.
The dealers seem to dislike Omaha hi-lo..less tips for their efforts. and more work, lots of multiple split pots.

Cheap local player next to me last time out won 3 kill pots in a row would not tip. I throw the dealer a couple bux saying..."Great to see good cards nearby''.
Hoping for good karma tonite.

Tired of greasy $12 strip burgers?

Tacos El Gordo...

$2.00 tacos that will knock your sox off....

Taco Adobada..spicy pork, pineapple, avocado crema, cilantro and onion wrapped in 2 griddle crisped, chewey corn tortillas...

Asada ( charbroiled steak tacos) loaded in warmed flour tortillas with avocado, onion and cilantro.

Lots of other stuff I have yet to try.

Ten bux (4 tacos & soda) spent here will bring a big smile....

5 stars in my book!

5 stars in my book!

If you like sushi, "I love Sushi" in Henderson is unbelievable. Blows anything on the strip away. Awesome room and the staff/sushi chefs are incredable

Great tip, was in Henderson for the new Galaxy Deluxe theater with electric leather recliners, beer and wine...only seats 50 but the experience was over the top...

Sushi was outta this world, whats not to like with Sushi named "screaming orgasm, nipple twister," among other catchy names.. also had the mixed seafood and Yakitori noodles.

Must have been 6 kinds of fish and shrimp on this monstrous serving....pulled the squid tentacles out and brought them home for Fido...wife bet me a fiver he would not eat them....well, "Hoover" did not disappoint, ate them suckers and all, scarfled them down and looked for more.

A long way from strip but it will get my sushi action.:0008

Picked up my brother at the "Quad" (imperial palace) today Mar 12, lots and lots of New Mexico jerseys wandering around.

Ellis Island raised price to 8.99 on steak and beer special and you need coupon from players card kiosk.

No, only Omaha high I ever played is pot limit which I think runs at times at Venetian/Aria. Big O is actually 5 card hi-lo. Crazy game. It's a 3/6 with a full kill. Couple of days they get a 6/12 going. Dealers are real good at keeping it moving a nice pace with the added complexities and 3 more cards.

DM, was that Omaha session at the Orleans? I understand that it is populated by a bunch of miserable bastards. :nono:

I frequent the Venetian most of all.
I see the same locals every time I go there. A couple of the women are VERY sharp, they prey on tourists and grind out $200- $300 a day tax free cash then go home.

The Orleans has too many local Curmudgeons even for my tastebuds. I go with a neighbor friend who has lived in Vegas since 1961 (she's 86 and a kick ass card player) she sees the same old-timers that remember beats from 30 years ago.

Its amazing to me the poker subculture that exists here.

Steak dinner at Ellis Island is $7.99 if you play one dollar of action in th slots first...obviously you have to have a players card there.

What do you guys think is the best Mexican restaurant in Vegas? It wasn't high-end but, we always used to make a stop at the Mexican place at the Frontier. Border Grill at Mandalay is good.
