Why is the clock counting UP

WTF is that noise that sounds like a huge swarm of bees? Those horns?

It counts up to 45 minutes per half plus any injury time that's added to the 45.
That noise are the vuvuzelas= loud annoying horns

Yeah, I've never understood why they don't stop the clock for injuries/goals, etc. The stoppage time seems kind of ridiculous, because the players on the field have no idea when the game will end. Will it be 93 minutes? 94 minutes? If it was just a set 90 with clock stoppages, the players would know exactly how much time was left. Seems weird to me...

So you know when the game is over.

And if you think those horns are annoying on tv.
Try sitting next to 5 kids blowing them for no reason the entire game in your ear. It is 10X more brutal than what you hear on tv.

How come every time someone scores (which is not very often), he runs AWAY from his teammates like he is trying to escape and everyone runs after him?? Just seems a bit strange...

If there wasnt some referee discretion as far as time goes, gamesmanship would play too big of a role late in games. it already does as it is. The team ahead will make substitutions (if they have any of their 3 left) just to waste time. And also, the team that's ahead will lay on the ground, if fouled, just to waste time. The ref has to have discretion to add whatever time is needed to make it fair

Yea but why can't they just stop the clock during substitutions, laying on the ground time, etc etc?? Wouldn't that be more fair?

would you wanna be mobbed

Hi Jes :00hour

Hello...I guess if I was any sort of athlete I might want to be...not really sure. I consider myself more of a thinking type than a physical type...I like music and books

They mob each other anyway, but they just run away first. Aren't they tired of running? Good lord...

Well it wouldn't help them any if the clock stopped every time they did it, right? That's what I'm saying -- fouls, substitutions, goals, injuries, all those things should stop the clock. Then the only way a team could "sit on the lead" would be kicking the ball out of their own end every time it gets close. Kind of like in hockey when the team that's ahead just ices the puck constantly at the end of the game.

Yea, you should pretty much run this thing. You make a lot more sense than these fools...

Scoring in soccer doesn't happen as much as other sports.
When someone does score it's a big deal and celebrations are welcomed :0074

Exactly!! So why do they run away from each other instead of running into each other to celebrate??

By the way, I am cheering for Ghana. I lived there in my younger days and can't help but have a soft spot in my heart for them. US gets to win at everything, gets boring. Anyone else?
