Yesterday was my daughters 21st birthday. She met her mother for the first time exactly eight years ago today. Her mother had issues and I spent several years in court trying to keep her away from Kristyn until she sought help. Anyway, her friends arranged for a limo to pick her up from home and take her to dinner and then all go out. I was there to take pictures and feel very proud, as she walked down the sidewalk I asked her what she would be drinking and she said "Long Island Ice Teas". I told her to be careful and that there is a lot of alcohol in them but have fun.
I have to admit it was a bit heart wrenching for me to see the girl that I still address as princess to this day walk off and get in a limo to go make all the mistakes I did. As she pulled off in the limo I couldn't help but feel a bit lonely as I turned and went in the house. I contemplated that for a minute and went into the kegerator in the garage and drew a Warsteiner into a frosty mug and went back into the house. About twenty minutes later the doorbell rang, and it wasn't the secret ring that I tell all to use. It rang again so I got up and answered it. When I opened the door there was my daughter standing on the stoop with a yellow rose buttoneer and a yellow rose corsage. She proceeded to tell me that she could not even concieve celebrating her 21st birthday without me and if I would please get dressed, there is a limo waiting to take the two of us back to the restaurant.
Was absolutely the most gratifying, heartfelt, best moment of my life. To all parents and grandparents out there let me just say that my daughter, her friends and I had a great time and,...... that all your efforts, all the love, all the dreams you pour into your children..............can be paid back in a single moment,,,....................and what a wonderful moment it is. Cheers to all and have a great holiday............I already got my present
