Get lost with your excuses..your team got beat by a better team..woulda..coulda..shoulda..give it up!

People act like USC had 4th and 2 and White was stopped for 1 yard loss. 2 inches short or pass the 1st down marker is pretty much luck. These are officials spotting the ball. 2 inches is NOTHING.
Who the fawk here thinks Texas D would have stopped the USC O if there was 2 min. left after Texas scored? Mack Brown himself said he wanted Texas to score game winning TD but to run the clock out because he couldn't stop USC.
I will say this. Texas D was better than USC D. But USC O was better than Texas O. Texas played solid on D but that wasn't good enough. USC still moved at will on them.

I think it's safe to assume everyone watching knew if USC made that first down, they would most likely win. If not, there was a very good chance Texas would score, and possibly win, based upon what they had been doing to the USC D. If we knew that, you know that the linemen, running backs, etc. knew it as well. In my opinion, it really came down to who "wonted" it more. Texas proved that they did.
And you mentioned the spot. From the TV viewers angle, USC got a favorable spot on that play, it wasn't that close.
I personally think Carroll went for it at the 50 because he thought Texas would score quickly enough, leaving him time to score again. Or, a slim hope that USC would stop them, and win. But, I have no basis for that, just opinion.

Give the ball to USC at the USC 20 yard line and give the ball to Texas at the Texas 20 yard line and flip a coin who wins the game.
Neither team wanted this game more. IMO, to say Texas wanted it more diminishes their victory. To bash USC diminishes Texas victory. Texas did something teams can't do. Play all 4 quarters and beat USC. That is something special nobody can take away from Texas. Whats great about this game is both teams made mistakes and both teams played great. This sums it up.
Give the ball to USC at the USC 20 yard line and give the ball to Texas at the Texas 20 yard line and flip a coin which defense stops opposing offense.
