Nominated for Oscar, best picture? Seriously? Why?

One negative for me right out of the gate is, it's in black and white. Why? I hate fuckin black and white movies. Bruce Dern is boring, his son is a goofy nerd. Now, the old lady who played Dern's wife was really good. She's the highlight of the flick.

It's about an old (kinda senile) man who thinks he won a million dollars. He has one of those Publishers Clearing House mailers, and he's bound and determined to go to Nebraska to collect (he lives in Montana). He'll even walk. So, the son decides to drive him there to satisfy Dad and we get to see the road trip. I guess the big moment in the movie is them visiting the town where he grew up. :jerkit:

This movie is a serious 'Bad Grandpa'. At least I got a couple laughs from the Jackass movie.

I'll give it 3/10 because I actually watched the whole movie without falling asleep.

Don't waste your time.

I really don't understand all the hype about this movie so it's probably just me, but I think it's just a sympathetic vote for aging Bruce Dern.

A very bad review. While it isn't on par with the quality of Sideways, Nebraska is still a very entertaining picture. It is definitely better than last year's winner for Best Picture. The black-and-white was crucial to the film. In fact, this movie was supposed to be made a decade ago, but no studio would touch it due to the insistence by Payne to film it in black-and-white. Obviously, you let the format bias your review.

The old lady was frickin' hysterical and cringe-inducing at the same time. She almost makes Streep's character in August: Osage County look tame by comparison. Dern was fantastic. His son was well cast. Keach was perfectly cast as well. This movie was a solid A- for me, and I feel it truly deserves its nominations. I will be shocked if Dern beats out Mcconaughey though. Dallas Buyers Club was by far the best picture of the year for me, but I still have to see 12 Years a Slave.

A very bad review.

I didn't like the movie and not going to praise a movie I didn't like.

So your review is good?

Entertaining? That movie is not my idea of entertainment at all. I wasn't crazy about Jasmine but up against this movie it's great!

I'm not even sure Dern was acting, he didn't do anything. That might be him in real life. Anybody could have played the roles of the cousins, the brother, and the sister in law. The scene of everybody sitting around watching the football game was excitement and entertainment at it's best. Boring. I know, I know, it wasn't supposed to be exciting.

If the guy is trying to show boring people from the mid west, he certainly pulled it off.

I know a lot of people like this movie but I don't, it's just not my kind of movie.

My whole review should have been one word: Boring.

My opinion is not as high as most

Black and white didn't bother me, I just didn't find much to get excited about...the lady surely was a memorable character, but besides that wasn't a whole lot I enjoyed....I have seen basically any/every movie available....usually I agree with majority of critics when they all agree a film is good....perhaps it is pre-conceived that ill like the flick due to experts telling me they are good films....I don't know, but in this instance, I don't agree.....ok movie....not great....not even good.....just ok IMO....

Def. Better choices for best picture.

I think ecscape plan with arnold and sly should win this category
