Let's see...
Boise is 10-0 and beat the crap out of Oregon State in an OOC game. I recall that being the team that kicked USC's ass. Pretty damn good argument as to why they should be ranked higher and have a shot.
How about Louisville who repeatedly gets turned down for OOC games. So does Boise. Teams dont get to just pick who they play.
But I am sure Sir Foam Finger will spin all of that.
Boise St. plays #99 ranked SOS.
USC plays the #2 ranked SOS.
Boise St. beat Oregon St. @BOISE ST. USC lost to Oregon St. @Oregon St. BIG DIFFERENCE!
Louisville has 1 loss. If they were undefeated, they might have an argument. The fact is, their schedule is NOT as impressive as some other 1 loss teams.
Teams CAN schedule a quality OOC. No excuses.
YOU GO PLAY ON THE ROAD! If they can't get home and away series, they have to settle for 1 home/2 away. PUBLICLY make an effort to schedule quality OOC opponents. If these less fortunate teams want respect, they have to EARN it. Go play on the road and win. Otherwise you are not trying to compete for a BCS NC.
USC needed 2 OOC games 2 years ago last minute. USC played @V-Tech and Colorado St. was the ONLY team who was willing to play @USC. USC did talk with Louisville (ironically one of the teams you mentioned) and they didn't make it happen. I do not know why it didn't happen but I do know both teams were talking.
IF you settle for a $hitty OOC schedule, don't cry about being left out.
The only teams that have earned a BCS title berth are the ones that are undefeated. Any team with a loss by definition is having it handed to them by way of a system that has no rhyme or reason to it.
If a team is willing to play TOUGHER schedule than most, and they lose a game, should they be penalized? I don't think so.
For arguments sake, lets say at the end of the season FLORIDA played the #1 SOS but lost a game during regular season.
You will argue they have not earned a BCS Title berth? You say they are having it "handed" to them?
If YOU are going to penalize/downgrade a team because they lose 1 game during the season, then what is the point of playing a tough OOC? Schedule 3-4 cupcakes and take your chances of running the table in conf. play.
I disagree with your entire post! :nooo:
