Just a question but did you ever stop to think why about 85% of the world is against this attack? Even among those countries that are with us the people are against it. Just wondering. We know they do not see Saddam as a nice guy so what is their game?
Just a question.

Folks we cant go around with a fu?? the whole world attitude. That can lead to us being the ones getting fu??. You watch we get this going and if things go well the French will be in there helping out when the shooting is over. If Bush lets that happen we should fire his ass next election. As for Canada. They are leaving two war ships in the middle east to add support. Not much but it is something. And I understand there sending 2000 troops to Kosovo to free up our troops there. Who will be used in Turkey.
What the hell Australia is only sending 5000 troops.
Remember all these countries are doing this even though much like England the support to do is about 10%.
Give-m a break not everyone in the world wants war.

DJV,

In a previous post you stated:

"Bush Sr. Had over 40 that mattered. Bush JR has 10."

According to an article in the 3/16/03 edition of the Kansas City Star that is titled" Looking Back at the Last Gulf War", there were 28 nations involved in the Gulf War.While the following is from an article from today's AP report, which states that there are 30 nations backing the overthrow saddam & 15 nations that have quietly supported the war.

Tuesday, March 18, 2003

WASHINGTON ? Thirty nations have joined with the United States in a "coalition of the willing" to bring down Iraqi President Saddam Hussein and another 15 quietly have promised their support, Secretary of State Colin Powell said Tuesday.

The State Dept. issued the following list of coalition nations:

Afghanistan, Albania, Australia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Colombia, Czech Republic, Denmark, El Salvador, Eritrea, Estonia, Ethiopia, Georgia, Hungary, Italy, Japan (post conflict), Korea, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Netherlands, Nicaragua, Philippines, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, Turkey, United Kingdom, Uzbekistan.

The difference between the Gulf War & this battle is that the US got monetary support for the Gulf War, while as of now there is no financial support from our allies. But I think that may change, considering the wealth that iraq has.

I'm suprised that Canada is not in since Great Britian is. From my experience on visits to Canada, I would say Canadians are far more likely to side with the British than they are the French even though there are so many of French descent in Ontario. I could be wrong, and that wouldn't be the first time.

The queen's picture is plastered all over Canada, and I think in every governmental office, and a lot of the currency has pictures of past monarchs. I saw much more British influence than I did French other than those that speak the French language (granted, very little of my time was spent in Ontario).

I won't dump on the Canadians even if I think they should be in support. They have been and will always be a great and beautiful people, and if push ever came to shove in North America, they'll be a great ally.

I do disagree, however, with Frogy on the "American" semantics issue. An American is from the USA. People in Canada are Canadian, not American, and people in Mexico or Mexicans, not Americans. What would u have us call ourselves, Frogy, United Statesians? I've never understood that point of view.

Cheers, eh, and I want gravy on my fries.

PRO190- Are you enlisted and plan to fight in the war? Seeing how much you are in favor of it and want to exercise American superiority, I can only guess you will be right there in the frontline ready to go. Or are you a keyboard warrior who can only talk shit yet doesnt' have the sack to get in there and do the dirty work? Big Daddy? LOL. Maybe Marine and others who are in the armed forces can talk shit like that, but you? Who the hell are you to spout that type of arrogant bullshit?

I'm far from perfect, but I'm not an arrogant, pompous, blowhard prick much like yourself.

I am against this war. But I support our troops. I resent the argument that because you are against the war you do not support the troops. That is more properganda that you are somewhat less of an American because you question the President.

Brazil, China, Russia, Germany, France, South Africa, Mexico, Norway, Sweden, Egypt, Syria, Saudi yes even these last three backed us in 91. When you get down to it its US and England. I know Spain but there just sending two war ships and 5000 men. And in 91, I dont remember one demostrations against us.

Just a comment to AR182 when you said "Some of them think, along with some worlwide opinion that we deserved what happened to us on 9/11" Are you kidding me??
I dont know one person in all of Canada who would ever think that and I take it very personally. I am sure you have never heard any Canadian say that so I will just chalk it up to your anger over our (soon to be gone) Prime Ministers comments and hope you did not really hear any Canadian say it.
I have all the respect in the world for your President and believe he has done a fantastic job with the situation he has been put in and has shown the patience to try to get things done without having to go to war.

well

well

...Canada isn't even a real country, it is Officially the Dominion of Canada, and that's a legal term meaning it has the authority to self-govern, but should the Queen decide at any time she doesn't like the way Canadians are doing things, she can overrride any Canadian law, or replace the government. When the DEMOCRATICALLY ELECTED Australian parliament chose as Prime Minister Gough Whitlam, he decided that he wasn't going to let the Queen of England run rough-shod over Australians ability to best decide what is best for themselves, but she didn't like that and she replaced him, with no election, and that was that. It can and will someday happen in Canada.
