If he was white, he'd been fired for those comments. What an arrogant racist a$$. I hope the Arkansas media completely ignores them.

Geez, and Bobby Knight only got the ax after YEARS of ranting and raving, abusing players and the media, and expletive-laced press conferences. I guess he was too good to get the heave ho. Now THAT'S a level playing field.

Maybe we should give Nolan the benefit of the doubt until he wins two more national championships.

Couldnt agree more.Whats with the slavery and being brought over in a boat bs.He needs to recognize that he makes over $1million a year.I believe thats more than the"white" football coach. The way he acted is unprofessional and he should be suspended. How would you like to be the AD at Arkansas tonight?

I just checked two popular sports sites for the exact quotes and they left the race stuff out. On top of those remarks, he clearly has way too high an opinion of himself. Football players come to talk to him?? Maybe they think they can make his mediocre buckets team. He went off on a tirade the year they won the title to try and create some "us against them" thinking. This time it didn't sound like it was meant to inspire players though.

Fired, no. Suspended, more palatable. However, Nolan is one of a select group of college bball coaches who CAN get away with some egotistical, even hostile remarks. Arkansas is full of good ol' boys, and he's one of them. He just happens to be African-American.

You're probably right about suspended not fired. BUT, we have seen the Jim Moras of the world who got fired for non-controversial tirades. Mora got fired for basically saying the Saints sucked. He may have added a profanity or two, but that was it. Lee Elia got fired by the Cubs for calling their fans lazy (plus a few choice adjectives).

LEE ELIA !!! Holy Harry Carey, haven't heard his name in ages!!!! Too funny.

As for Jim Mora, I was living in N.O. at the time, and that franchise was in the dumps anyways, even if they did make the playoffs. Believe me, he wore out his welcome. Not to mention in Indy he had lost the confidence of his players and the team had one of the worst seasons possibly ever for an NFL team with such high expectations. The offense turned the ball over, the defense was terrible, and he's not responsible? Oh yeah, he was tight with the team's defensive coordinator. Polian was good towards Mora , but even that couldn't save his job.

I'll miss Mora's tirades. He had some hilarious lines:

Re: the teams poor special teams play:

"People in the stands were literally vomiting at our kicking game. Absolutely wretching".

Let's not forget the uncut Bob Knight tape. At the end of that tape, you'd swear the name of the school in Lafayette was called F-ing Purdue.

I don't know what he was trying to prove. Maybe with all that money he makes he can go get some plastic surgery for all those pits he has in his hideous looking grill. Dude looks like he got hit in the face with a heavy sack of nickels!!!

actually nolan's mug can be attributed to his eight years as a goalie for a professional darts team.

Among Libtards!!
they should can his a%# for that unprofessional display...not only does it look bad upon the school.... but when he says chit like "why do they have football recruits talk to me", it makes it seem like at least to me, that he is saying that Huston Nutt can't recruit and talk to recruits because he is white.....brought the race card out...getting tired of that chit. Mike tyson calls a reporter a white pussy beaatch, and nothing is made of it....if that would have been a white guy, all hell would have been made of it. Just like when dan issel (sp?) went off on that fan, it was front page news for a week and a half. Never did like that phuck nolan anyway, now I have a reason.

At what point in time

At what point in time

do blacks get off of the race issue? Every time things don't go exactly as they think they should, it's "whitey's" fault. " "Whitey's" a racist. It always falls back on that.
When does that change? When blacks are the majority? Maybe.
Let's see how "whitey" is treated when that day comes....

I am stating a fact here, so Am I a Raciest?

Slavery started in Africa by Tribes conquering another tribe. They would then sell some of their slaves to Americans. (We sure don't hear this part of the story) Who started Slavery?

All of this is wrong, but it happened and it keeps being thrown up in America's face and they were a part of it. Richardson pulling the race card is way out of line. I guess I would use it too, since you can get away with murder using it.

All I want to do is beat the man and spread the wealth to everyone, no mater what race. Sorry off subject with no capping, see you during baseball.

Peace and Love except to the man

I grew up around alot of black people and two of them...

I grew up around alot of black people and two of them...

i considered, back in the 70's good friends and they never used racist card. All the blacks have done to me personally over the last 10 years is by playing the racist card is make me more of a racist than i ever was before and actually i never thought i was. Yes i do get tired of seeing 10 blacks playing basketball on TV every Pucking time. And the NBA should Stand for the Nigger(Negro to you who didn't grow up in my era) Basketball Association. I have a daughter that is one hell of a good basketball player and she doesn't get the playing time of the blacks because she is a "little slower on defence" than the blacks, but all the blacks do is turn the ball over time after time on offence. and she can shoot lights out and make good passess on offence, hell the coach is even white, that race card has turned every school teacher/administrtator into a chicken chit, right is right and wrong is wrong reguardless of color. Hell i even moved one of my daughters across the state line because the principle was too afraid to discipline 3 black boys(7th grade) who continually bumped her in the ass with their groins when she bent over to get books out of their locker, I would have beaten the shit out of them but it would have served no purpose. The Blacks need to clean up their own Pucking race before they'll get ANY respect from me, and the black kids that do conduct themselves in a normal way get all the respect from me, and personally i feel the same way about white trash but they don't have a race card to play all the time. Sorry for the vent, know it's in a wrong spot.

Its so funny how when black people say racist stuff, they don't get in trouble, yet any white people say ANYTHING and they're in deep shit and its racism and its bad

the whole dan issel thing was a joke, for him to get fired was unfair in my eyes

so tired of it and i agree with ya Doc and Valuist

and the bad thing is, it'll never be equal or fair

Some of these comments are out of line, just like Nolan's. Doc, I don't know you, but I expect better. And yes, ranting on this forum about personal issues close to your heart is unecessary. Be proud of your daughter's scholastic achievements, not how much playing time she gets. And for the rest of you, stereotyping ANY race is ridiculous. Our society tolerates it and it is plain wrong. White, black, Hispanic, Asian, whatever. And the race card.....

There are a lot of blacks who, let's face it, still harbor some resentment for how they or their ancestors were treated by society. At least many of them have the dignity to let bygones be bygones. I'm not P.C., for instance, some of this reparations talk is absolutely ridiculous. But we should at least try to use a little empathy and know where they are coming from.

As for African slavery, who cares who started it? It was the white slave traders' choice whether to bring them to America or not. Heck, slavery has been going on for thousands of years.

And Dan Issel. He was losing control of his team big time. Remember that the players almost revolted. Not very well liked. Great player, lousy as a coach and GM.

Can u imagine if Issel yelled a racist comment to a black man, instead of a hispanic man, all hell would have broken loose, Farakhan, Jessie Jackson and John Salley would have been in an uproar.

However, I'm sure Issel would have been backed up by one of the best white lawyers in this country......Johnny Cochrane.
