i go to choose my seat and now they charge for the emergency row (the row i like because it has more leg room) and isle and window seats? EXTRA??!! how about 1st come, first served. christ!

so, if you don't belong to their little club or you don't pay extra, your ass is sitting way in the back and in the middle between 2 mimi's.

yeah, i'll wind up paying extra as soon as they make these AVAILABLE!!

they're on hold until 24 hours before the flight!!

****Coach ChoiceSM Exit Seat available for purchase

Thank God for Southwest Airlines and that Nashville is a major routing exchange for them.

On the course!
$15 divided by 3 1/2 hour flight equals............

Have Kosar send some of his tip money to your PayPal account, you big moose!

:mj07:

Three and a half hours in that cramped seat...........leg room has a price. WTF is $4.30 an hour????

Don't really care for them.

Jack,

There was an uproar over this 4 months ago when it got implemented.. it was all over the news and everything. You better start paying attention more.

Yes, NW is doing this to try and make some money and save themselves from collapse.

Jinx, that $49 at United is for a bump to Economy Plus - which is wider seats and 5" more legroom... not an opprtunity to sit in an aisle seat like the petty lil bean counters at NW are doing.

they're gonna be on strike and shut down soon anyway jack... i'd book on another carrier unless you are feeling particulary lucky

Jack,

same thing with me with northwest. Being tall I always ask for emergency row. they charge me the $15.00, so I get on the plane, take my exit row seat, and right when they close the door,
the mother fer's who DIDN"T pay start switching to the exit row seats. I went ape shit and demanded by money back, they said there is nothing they could do, to talk to the agent.

My thing is if the plane is full then charge, if not then don't

i hate southwest airlines because of no advanced seating....

I love Southwest for the following reasons:

1. Highest on-time rate of major airline (at least in my experience)
2. Employees at least act like they give a **** that their employer is getting your business
3. If I need to reschedule, I call and I have a LIVE person on the phone in less than 2 minutes tops.
4. Low prices
5. Many destinations from Nashville
6. Check in 24 hours in advance (schedule it in your OUtlook calendar) and you are guaranteed a great seat at no extra charge
6a. If you do check in early, and you are in "A" group, then you can keep your chair in the terminal until the A line is almost all the way through then walk right up to the front. This is virtually like the sap that stood in the B line for 45 miinutes before boarding to get a good seat.
7. Their rewards program is great. No blackouts. Can book 5 minutes before flight if you want with no questions. 4 round trip flights booked online with Southwest credit card, and your next round trip in continental US is free.

The Boys -- got any info on Costco? :mj07:

Jack,
Nothing but scabs working at NW now, I hope you realize that.......you may not be a union man and that is fine but I damn sure wouldn't get on anything that they fly knowing that all their heavy maintenance is accomplished overseas with unlicensed mechanics. They are not governed by FAA either. Just think you may be able to save fifteen dollars and fly American..........or you can pay the extra $15 bucks for the added comfort of extra legroom as you rocket toward the soon to be smoking hole. Okay that might be stretching it a bit for sensationalistic effect but sounded good..............the smoking hole isn't true but the rest of it is. I would think again before flying that airline.

Agent... right now that's the only airline I can find from Indy that flys non-stop to Vegas. Can't check on Southwest until first of October... apparently they won't let you book flights more than 4 months in advance.

I have had nothing but good experiences with NW. When I went on my cruise this summer we flew into Ft. Lauderdale and there were 12 of us. Our travel agent said that she had us all sitting with one another... but when we got checked in, only 4 of us 12 were together. I went to see the gate agent and told him of the problem. After half an hour or so, he had everyone taken care of... but told me I would have to sit by myself up front to make it happen... I told him I didn't care and he said that I would like my seat, which was in 1st class, so that was cool and he booked me for first class on the return flight as well. :142smilie

Jack, I ran into the same problem when I flew NW back in August to see my sis in Tampa. I checked in online before I went to the airport and picked one of the $15 rows with nobody in it. Being the big boy that I am, I need all the room I can get. :) For the flight home, I did the same thing, but they wouldn't let me sit in the exit row because I need an extender for the seatbelt. Of course, they tell me this as we are getting ready to take off... plane seated 100, about 70 people on board and everyone had already moved around so there weren't any rows empty for me to move to. I brought this to the attention of the nice stewardess and she said, "I think I have a seat up front with your name on it." So she bumped me to 1st class, which was nice. :SIB

Hey Jack

Hey Jack

Do you still have all of those Amex Membership Rewards points? You could probably get a free flight on Delta if you do and want to spend them.

yeah, i have something like 150,000 now. i'll see what happens since this flight is booked already. if they go OOB and close down, all i have to do is cancel the charges at amex and get another flight. glad i didn't use them on the return flight. i used them on the way out because it was the only non-stop flight available.

That was nice of them to move you to first class, you can tell the people in coach how cold the water is after you go screaming into it at 300 knots because the aircraft wasn't properly maintained.

That was kind of rough, sorry about that.......funny............but rough................just don't like the fact that they shipped their maintenance overseas costing thousands of people their jobs, livelihoods, homes,...etc............ Then proceed to collect financial relief from what was once your and my tax money, and then are allowed to operate under bankruptcy, abrogate their entire pension to the PBGC to provide tax payers with a bit more of a burden and relieving them of any obligation to pay those employees of the past what they rightfully deserve and earned. It sickens me and should sicken every American citizen that it is allowed to happen.

Personally, I have great heartache crossing a picket line whether evident or not I know it exists at NW and therefore will not cross, much in the same way I would not want someone crossing a picket line I was walking at a place of employment that I had an agreed upon wage that was not honored, a pension that was shit canned, and scab employees hired. Thats just me though I have a bit more respect for the American worker than that.

I agree with all of the above. Southwest offers a great service for a great price and their employees are by far the most sincere and accommodating in the industry.

I agree about Southwest as well

I agree about Southwest as well

I wish I had one closer to me, no SWA at Reagan National (DCA) which is the closest airline for me to fly out of. When I have flown SWA they have been most accomadating and nice unlike some of the others.
