WLS AM morning show

Host went into the numbers of soldiers killed in Iraq due to gun shots.

I believe these were the numbers he used....

Iraq War-60 killed per 100,00yr serving

Wash DC with the strictest gun control laws in the country- 80 killed per 100,00/yr :wall:

Sad in both cases. We should say many more by automobile. Of course many of those now do to dummies talking on cell phone.

If we weren't spending so much money in Iraq we could spend some here to help bring down those numbers in Washington.

No Steve something tells me they would say we don't have any extra money. Seems our government rather build more prisons we cant afford to keep up or run. There has to be a better way. Hey maybe we can exchange some of our's for the illegals coming across the border.

Sure, due to gunshots. But how many folks in DC area getting blown up by roadside bombs? ....Ummm, how bout 0 per 100,000.

The constant verbal trashing of poor cities by the very same group of people who pulled out of those cities in favor of suburbs and then began "redlining" them (basically drawing borders where they will not invest) is truly wrong.

If all the money suddenly leaves a place, leaving poorly patrolled destitute people to fight each other for a living, what else is expected?

And then people throw them a bone, expect things to immediately turn around, get impatient when progress isn't fast enough - and then say "see, I told you - these places and these people are worthless".

But - hey, some make into pro sports, and we have no problem looking up to them and betting dimes on them then at that point.

djv--I'm still waiting for your announcement to us that you are joining the Minutemen Project. You seem like the border patrol is important to you, and you are retired. They need more men like you down there. It's time to answer your second call.

I won't.

Vegas best days are well behind them. Regardless of the unreal growth there, if those casinos don't get a clue and realize they are in the service business 1st, the best image of that city will soon only be the thing of movies.

You can gamble in thousands of places across this planet and get MUCH BETTER service from those employed by the house.

And also enjoy a better climate to boot.

Agree, we should bring back Marion Barry. He'd have everybody mellow smokin' dope and chit! :weed: Didn't it work before?

Or maybe we can throw some money at the problem. That always works!

Or we should probably blame the evangelical christian right (whoever the hell they are, never met one yet) for inciting the hideous murders.

Or we could put more cops on the street. I have to say that I am constantly amazed at how negative you and DTB are.

How many in Iraq are dying of drug overdoses and aids--

As I said many times I'll take my chances serving a year in Iraq over spending a week in projects of numerous U.S. cities.

Been called lots of things but never negative Stevie. :)
I am quite positive on the war-the economy-the election-my business--my recreation--my wagering--my health-fight against terrorism in fact can't think of much I am negative about--and you?

What areas do you think I appear negative in--maybe I can use some outside scrutiny.

Well Dogs I think you are a bit of a pessimist when talking about Bill Clinton! LOL! But seriously, what you just said about the projects and the inner city, I think that is very pessimistic. Sure, you are willing to throw all kinds of lives, blood, and money at Iraq but not much here at home. I wonder why that is?

Think you BBC Have always thought I was optomistic but had to step back a look again for minute as maybe I was missing something.

You got a point Matt --I really don't think it would change much as I would be happy as I could do lots of harping and already have data bank stored on pleading 5th and failure to recall and numerous other scandals I won't have to search for again.
plus she might bring back articles she stole from white house when she left.:)
--in all honesty Matt while many of us are on different politicall spectrums you know as well as I--who is president has little to do with our outlook on life.
We control our own destinys. The only ones effected or those that are better off with someone controling it for them.

Stevie I don't think not wanting to spend night in projects is being pessamistic but rather a logical aversion to risk.Would your failure to drop your children off in projects to go trick or treating during halloween make you a pessamist or a prudent father?

Dogs, I am wanting to fix the problems in the projects and I think they can be fixed. You on the other hand find joy in talking about how other attempts to fix those problems have failed. That makes you a pessimist. I do not see you posting very much about the lack of security at our airports or Tom DeLay or anything like that so I see how you could be perceived as not being pessimist but I don't buy it. You take great pride, as shown by your cut and paste posts, in failures of the other side as you see it. Which is a lot like Fox News.

Stevie I would like to see things fixed in projects but all the money ect you pour in isn't going to fix it. I remember suberb of St Louis called Kinlock where they built brand new housing project--wasn't 3 months the graffitii ect was added. Its got to be fixed from within.
I know lots of less fortunate peope on small farms scratching to make ends meet and while they might not have new cars and olders houses they are always clean with flowers planted ect.Its about pride--moneys not going to fix 70% illegitanacy-rate-crime ect. You got to get rid of those giving people excuses for failure and a free ride.

and on Delay--he isn't one on my favs mostly because of his arrogance--don't agree with his funding the family but then again Boxer has lots of room to talk sliding her son $70,000 a year--The pot calling the kettle black--you might say.
