but I'm sick of it..................yep that's right.......sick of it.

For you Americans that think Canada is NOT an ally are well idiots. Yep that's right I said it, idiots. I know that is not the proper way to express my opinion but guess what, I don't care.

I realize that 90% of Americans know zero about any other country, but you'd think that at least a few would know a tad about their neighbour. I mean you have Americans that can actually SEE Canada from their home and yet still know nothing. OK this I can deal with, I have lived in the US for 7 years of my life and know from what I speak. Anyway, as I said I can deal with the lack of understanding, BUT when it goes to the level of Canada being looked at as NOT being an ALLY I have had enough :nono:

Hmmmmmmmmmmm let's take a look at some info shall we:

1) Canada fought in WWI...........WITH THE USA!!

2) Canada fought in WWII..........WELL BEFORE THE USA JOINED!

3) Canada and the US trade more then any other two countries in the world.......I mean I find that odd considering how were not allies

4) There are over 600 000 US citizens living in Canada......I mean if we were so "horribly anti American" ya think we'd have over half a million US citizens living here

5) Canadians fought in the Korean war

6) Thousands of Canadians stationed in Afgan

7) Thousands of Canadians stationed in Kosovo

and most importantly................quick story:

About three years ago I was speaking to a US war vet (WWII) who was speaking of his D-Day experiance. He told me the following:

"I will never forget the group of Canadians that saved my life"

ok.............now tell that guy that Canadians aren't allies..see what he says. And oh yeah by the way, did you know that on D- Day, Canadians were the only ones that completed their mission.

Yes I know that most of you are going to come on here and bash me relentlessly, so be it. You can hate Canada, you can despise Canada, but don't ever say we are not your allies, that's just plain stupid :nono:

I love Canada!! Beautiful country, great people. My dad is so impressed he may move from California to Vancouver soon.....but

DONT BOO THE U.S. NATIONAL ANTHEM, ESPECIALLY THESE DAYS!!!

and unless Im mistaken on Dday Canada got the only 1 of 5 beaches that wasnt heavily fortified. Jesus himself could have landed on Omaha or Utah beach and been in big trouble....

but we are and shall remain allies in my opinion.

Well, actually, it wasn't a Canadien beach, it was "The Canadian contingent made up of men not only from Canada but also volunteers from Ireland, Scotland, French Canadians, Poles and quite a few Americans all of which wanted to fight for the freedom they believed in."

ok true...........just like almost every battle in WWII, rarely would there be a battle with 100% participation from one country..........mostly Canadians, should have been more clear.

but you'll notice the key theme here:

ALLY

Hey. Don't worry about it kick.

I get the same thing.....Australia is the butt end of nealy every (international) joke I ever hear!

Of couse we both fought in WW1 and WW2 well before the US....we're the Commonwealth, head ;)

Don't worry about those pesky American's....they get themselves in enough trouble without us getting involved ;)
...Unless of course they are talking about an early warning radar station placed SMACK in the middle of Australia (Pine Gap) which about (my guess!!) about 0.5% at best of Americans know about!!

As I said, don't worry about it mate, the people who don't (want to?) know aren't worth worrying about.

There are actually some US citizens out there that aren't totally brain-washed by their media ;)

Homer " How was your first day of teaching honey?"

Marge " Horrible, it took the children 20 minutes to find Canada on the map"

Homer " Oh Marge anyone could miss Canada, all tucked away down there"

I love how anyone from anywhere can generalize three things and be safe: White People, Christians, and American. Me, being all three, must be a complete and absolute idiot.

I don't think it's fair to generalize anything this much (except uneducated wingers! :tongue)

Christo--do you think that the reason why you hear those jokes more often is because they're the ones that are directed towards you. I am sure more jokes about white (Christianity, Americans) people stick in my head than it does for black people (and vice versa); I think this is true for anything.

My point is that to lump everyone together just because of their race, religion, and COUNTRY is a sign of ignorance.

The people whom I have met in my travels who are my favorites are:

1. Canadians
2. Australians
3. South African

Least favorite:
1. Spanish

This is quite ironic because the two people bashing me in this thread are from my #1 & 2. To each their own, though. Just remember, not everyone from America (I would like to say most people) are tobacco-spittin' cowboys who think we are elite!

Have a great day!

Hey kick

I know you probably have your reasons for stating those facts but some of us do know. Even us dumb ass rednecks in the south (yes I am including myself).

I got to fight beside the Canadian S.F. 23 group in the gulf and yes they did know their business. In the Daddy Bush Gulf War.

kick, I posted this in the other thread. I never said Canada wasn't our ally, I only disparaged martin.

kick, it is just protocol that the sitting government be represented and martin did not send anyone.

Mulroney was there has a former head of state and a very close friend of the Reagan's, he was not representing Canada or it's current administration.

Martin not being there was a direct slap in the face just like france and is not right coming from such a close ally as Canada.

well well, I see in the local papers that Martin is being blasted for not showing up. This will further impede his chances of being re-elected. You have to feel for the guy though, he is trying to save his ass up here trying to get some votes, and now all this negative PR is following him. He won't be receiving my vote though.

"the bunker"
i think

i think

it depends which administration is in power....chretien(f--k you chretien)and martin are not pro-american...spin it anyway you want...they weren`t and aren`t...mulroney was...

i like the canadians i know....i like the canadians on this board...

but i don`t like your leadership....and i`m quite sure that you, like most of europe don`t like ours....

these issues are cyclical...

as far as the aussies go,i think they belong right up there with the brits as our best allies...i love the aussies....tough bunch....glad they`re our allies....even though mr christo is one of those that buys into all the anti-american rhetoric...the aussies as a whole are solid as a rock...there`s always gonna be a few bad apples in every barrel....

and they put out an occasional solid boxer or two...;)

.i can`t wait to see danny green fight....i know he`s got hall of famer jeff fenech in his corner...

that was a great win...beating eric lucas in his own backyard....ouch....

just kidding ,my canadian buds...

honestly, though,i do think it was a mistake that martin didn`t show....even if chretien died tomorrow,i`d expect our leadership to show at his services...

it`s the civilized thing to do...

sans quebec and their current leadership,i love our canadian brothers....

Martin was not inpower when Reagan was nor a friend. Thats why Mulroney was there. Each country does not always send there top guy. We send our VP many times. It's no big deal. Look at how Gorby must have felt. Over and over again the evil empire thrown in his face. Not one thank you Gorby for working with Reagan to help stop missle race and work on lasting peace. What if Gorby would not have been able to get his government to work with ours. For all we know this world would be more evil today then it is. I think old man Bush might have came the closest to saying thank to Gorby for his hard work with Reagan. No one else bothered.

the custom is that a country's leader usually attends the funeral of another leader.

if the leader can't pay his respects, he usually sends a person (spouse of the leader, or cabinet member) in his place.

i'm quite certain that the u.s. sent a rep. to trudeau's funeral.

brian mulroney stated a few times that he wasn't representing canada.

the truth is like france, canada had shown no class by not having a representative attend reagan's funeral.

that's not a reflection on the canadian people, just on canadian's leadership.

btw, my wife is canadian (french canadian) & have met a lot of great
people from canada.
