Scary stuff, this life we have, huh? 2% sounds like a small percentage but I'm sure you've already been all through the internet and have found a lot out by now. That's where I would have started too. Plus, probably posting here looking for suggestions and help.

I don't know anything about it but the fact that they can still do surgery sounds encouraging as well. Just the words chemo and radiation scare the shit out of anybody. But, those methods have been very successful as well.

I'm thinking that you have caught this early and will be fine, that's what I'm hoping for anyway.

Keep us posted, if you don't mind, and it might help you keep a positive focus too.

Sorry, you have to go through all this, Chad. You will be in my thoughts.

Chadman very sorry to hear this. My Dad just went through 9 weeks of radiation treatment for prostate cancer. First off let me tell you that you will hear different senarios and treatments from different doctors and believe it or not some of it comes down to money and what kind of insurance you have plus payment to the doctors. My sister is a hospital administrator and a nurse. She set up appointments with several doctors in OKC and went to the appointments with him. They were told a number different things by different doctors. Of course you are alot younger than my Dad (68) which will make the options somewhat different. Surgery may be more of an option for you being alot younger but they decided on a type of proton pinpoint radiation which was to be alot less than evasive than other options. There are only 6 procure centers in the USA and one happened to be only 30 miles from where he lived. Very lucky. I am happy to say his treatments ended last week and his PSA test came back very low which indicates they got it. I will post a link below so you can check it out. Please get more than one opinion even if you trust your doctor!
You can beat this.
Good luck!

Chad--bummer buddy but from my experience with clients B purple is pretty much right on--operating very good sign with no future probs..

On ins end of it--believe Minn has high risk pool as Ky does where coverage is guarantee issue.

Don't know specifics on minny's but in Ky this pool is often cheaper than rated policy with BC BS.

Here is link--I'd sign up ASAP-

All the best, and agree with the staying positive approach, no other way. Keep us posted. Good luck with whatever option or treatment you choose.

Hang tough, Chad. Like some of the others have mentioned, i've heard that if it is still operable, it's a very good sign.

This I will hope will make you feel comfortable and a little at ease. My dad had this surgery done 18 years ago. I can't remember all of the specifics but I still bowl with my dad today twice a week. It is scary and I remember the first couple of days he was not awake all the much because of the pain but I do believe that this is the best option. I wish you the best of luck...

My sister in laws husband was diagnosed about 3 weeks ago.. A small percentage like you. He is scheduled for surgery very soon. From what ive heard they are telling him prostate surgery has a very high success rate and that he should be fine.

It sounds like he is a few weeks ahead of you so I will keep you posted!

Best Wishes

YOU WILL BE FINE. At age 49, and at 2%, the surgery will do the trick. My father in law was diagnosed with the same thing at age 60. 5 years later, he's a walking bill of health. Stay strong and positive. Cancer is scary word, but of all the types out there that a man can get, prostate is the most curable.

I'll pray for a quick recovery.

Thanks SO much for the information and positive wishes, everybody. I'm processing information right now, and tackling the insurance issues head on this morning. Initially some good prospects and news on the high risk pool accounts the wife and I look like we are eligible for. While relatively costly, it sure would beat the Hell out of paying for whatever comes out of pocket. And that is one of the two obvious concerns right now.

Over the next few days I'll be reviewing the info/links you guys have provided, along with others. Again, I won't know my specific outlook until next Wednesday morning. But I very much appreciate the positive and promising news and reports you guys have thoughtfully posted in here. A special thanks to Wayne for checking in and offering so much help. You, too, Jack, for facilitating.

I'll keep everyone posted as the days go by. Thanks again - so much - for your thoughts. Day one seems to be going pretty well... :0074

drink 8 ounces of pomegranate juice a day. Eat more fruits and vegetables especially anticancer foods such as kale. beets, collard greens, brussel sprouts, and broccoli. Increase vitamin D levels. Take 50 to 100 mlligrams of zinc daily. Take 8-10 grams of pumpkin seed daily. Take 1500 milligrams of saw palmetto daily. Make sure 1/3 or your daily caloric intake consists of healthy fats such as cod liver oil, coconut oil, nuts and avocados. Run this by your urologist great for prostrate health.

Chadman....

I really admire the fact that you came here to open up your feelings. It's not something everyone feels comfortable doing. I commend you for that.

It certainly sounds like you are a fighter and have the right attitude about things. Keep that up and things will work out well. I honestly believe that.

The Madjack fraternity is a great place, and you are certainly among friends.
