UGA,
1) yes
2) no
1.) Of course there is racism everywhere. This isn't an issue of racism. This is a discrimination issue. There are those that are calling for harsher judgement against him simply because they feel this will help to "even it up for what our white brethren went through" for what they consider to be similar transgressions.
All this falls right in line and in the heels of the Ferguson deal and the treatment of white cops etc....
That's what has everyone all lathered up. They want vindication.
2.) Black on black bigotry is largely ignored as is black on white bigotry when considering the venue and context. I assure you that many of the same white folks in this very thread laugh at black comedians when they make racist jokes, i.e. "white people are so stupid, if a white person gets offended he says pardon me there mister...." you get the point. We laugh at the jokes, giggle and nod at the stereotypes, but come unglued when we see an and chomp at the bit when an opportunity to further diminish the relative equality that blacks have gained to date. It's discriminatory when you call for harsher judgement of anyone based in race. It's ignorant when you allow for the behavior sometimes and vilify it from others.
