have always been quicker to capitulate to their enemies than to help their friends....as was said in another thread, they are jealous and resent the united states...as shrimp said, they have enormous business interests in iraq.....i was on the fence on this iraq invasion until recently....but,we now have n. korea with nuclear weapons(possibly able to hit the west coast of the u.s.)....we know that n. korea was caught selling missiles to yemen(a known terrorist sympathizer) from an unmarked cargo ship(unmarked-flying no national flag).....you have a communist country, that is dirt poor, that hates the west and everything they represent....that stands in the way of them overrunning prospering south korea...does anyone think that n. korea would balk at selling weapons of mass destruction to enemies of the west?......we may be facing a similar situation in iraq....i think we are looking at a preemptive action here to remove a serious potential threat.....we see the leverage that n. korea now has due to their nuclear weapons...iraq would also have that leverage if left to their own devices........and from what i`ve read, iran may not be far behind.....we may be to late....the cat may be out of the bag....we can`t make our national defense policy based on the concerns or economic interests of a two bit socialist country like france(that has a burgeoning muslim population) and political opportunist chirac........they didn`t lose 3 thousand people on 9/11.....i would be more worried about getting on board with up and coming economic power germany, russia and china....france should be irrelevant(unfortunately, they have been working overtime to undermine us at every opportunity) ....they could care less about the united states....and that is very short sighted of them....i would like to say thank you to british bulldog, and all our aussie, spanish, italian and eastern european friends that are standing their ground despite a possible increased threat against them due to their support..it is in all our long term best interests to stick together through these trying times...i know there is increasing anti-american sentiment around the world....their media is no different than ours...elitist and liberal....tony blair is under increased pressure in britain....yet,he stands solid even though it may cost him his job at some point....
i know many say our push to war is oil driven.....and there may be some truth to that....we truly need to put extensive effort into finding an alternate energy source and to somehow distance ourselves from our dependence on the middle east...........that is a long way off due to the enormous power of the oil companies...but,unfortunately ,there is a far bigger picture to consider here and now.....we are being threatened....and we cannot afford to sit on our hands as the french and germans would like us to........we have to protect our country and our citizens......many so-called allies would love to see us falter....but,we are still the moral and economic leader of the free world.....our country and the other democracies around the world are truly a phenomenon....
it amazes me that many don`t see the potential threat of these rogue nations enabling terrorists and their like to devastate our country and our way of life....iraq and n. korea themselves may not threaten the u.s(although that has now changed in n.korea`s case)......but if left to their own devices,i have no doubt they would enable these fanatics and provide whatever was necessary to try and devastate us and our way of life in any way possible...
