Scott of course ignoring his conference's cupcake schedule.
This is a post I posted last year on MJ's :lol2
2004 Pac 10 OOC vs SEC OOC Opponents!!!
I was challenged by a poster to post the Pac 10 OOC opponents vs SEC OOC opponents. So I decided to do it and glad I did. Take a look at the difference in quality of teams the Pac 10 plays vs SEC.
Pac 10 plays 13 road games against OOC competition.
SEC plays 5 road games against OOC competition. :142lmao:
From the top of my head it looks like the.........
Pac 10 is playing 14 OOC Bowl opponents from last year!!!!!!!!!!!
SEC is playing 8 bowl opponents from last year.
After looking over each conferences OOC schedule, in my "opinion" I think the.......
Pac 10 has roughly 18 tough OOC opponent competition!!!!
SEC has 8 tough OOC opponent competition.
I think I was very fair in determining tough competition and IMO there are no more than 10 tough OOC games for SEC and there are no less than 15 tough OOC games for the Pac 10. You also "must" factor in away/home games. I strongly feel the Pac 10 is playing 10 tougher OOC opponents than the SEC and the Pac 10 is a 10 team conference while the SEC is a 12 team conference!!!!
Don't believe my numbers or opinion? Take a look for yourself but be prepared to laugh at the SEC OOC competition! I warned ya! :lol2 :lol2 :lol2
*Bold are games I "think" will be "very" hard in terms of OOC play

Ok, now that I am done beating my chest about OOC opponents between the Pac 10 and SEC I know that some ignorant poster will reply. "SEC does not have to schedule tough OOC opponents because conference play is so tough." I think SEC conference has some elite teams and that is where conference play is "tough" but SEC sure has their bottom dwellers. Last year Kentucky, Miss. St. and Vandy all won 1 conference game all year and that was against each other. PATHETIC!!!!!!
In addition, if the SEC conference play was so tough, how come "only" 1 SEC team has had a top 15 SOS through the years 1990-1999 and 2000-2003???? (#15 was highest for SEC (FLORIDA) and #1 was the highest for a Pac 10 school (USC).
If conference play is so tough, wouldn't more SEC teams have stronger SOS for combined years??? That SEC conference schedule is soooo tough! In those same years between 1990-1999 and 2000-2003 the Pac 10 has had 9 teams ranked in the top 15 in terms of SOS. That is 90% of the conference!
If the Pac 10 conference schedule is so "weak" as some here might suggest, then how could 9 of the 10 teams in the Pac 10 play a SOS ranked in the top 15?????
I am not making this stuff up and I am not misleading anyone. It is all right here in front of you. You have the choice to accept it or choose to be ignorant.
I am not trying to debate that the Pac 10 is superior to the SEC. I do not think it is. This is just one piece in my arsenal that supports my opinion that the SEC is
NOT superior to the Pac 10.

*Remember when I am comparing conference strengths when I say the SEC is not superior to the Pac 10, I am NOT talking about the past history of college football. I am not talking about just last year (where SEC had good SOS). I am talking about recent history. That could be the years 2000-2003 or the last 5-10 years.
NOT talking about the last 10+ years or just one specific year. I am talking about a collection of data! This post was not my sole argument about SEC vs Pac 10 debate of strength of conferences. This data is just an example (or sample) of data about the difference between OOC play between the Pac 10 and SEC. This thread is just about OOC play for the SEC and Pac 10 for the year 2004.
