are CB's just dumb?
are CB's just dumb?
do people not think they know the pats' best way to negate pass rush, is for quick passes?
Wade Phillips looks lost at times, i'll say that - but has proven an NFL caliber def coordinator
With all the talk of Brady's quick release negating the would-be DEN pass rush, wouldn't one of the best corner duos and secondaries, covering receivers also be aware of this, and -i imagine in covering man-to-man-, make those would be quick passes, harder to complete --or at the very least, defended pretty decently?
In watching the Pitt game, (and as some have said) there were clearly huge areas of either miscommunication, or gameplan breakdowns where receivers were catching the ball with no one else even in frame when ball arrived. Everyone watching that must've been curious as to how WRs get THAT wide open. Also too, anyone familiar with the Patriots geniusly coached teams, would think the pats would be salivating at opportunity to run wild through a secondary that plys like that, and take full advantage.
so the whole -what about denvers pass rush? tom bradys quick release answer, isnt as cut and dry as some might think --especially if anticipating same den D on display vs pitt
I was a bit curious as to why Phillips waited so long to press/go man-to-man - as Pitt seemingly had anything they wanted in zone. I expect that press man-to-man, might make these quick hitters harder for Brady to complete than was vs the chiefs. Also too, i know the Patriots are usually a step ahead of the schleps like me, as they too, know a whole helluva lot more than i, and are surely already taken necessary counter maneuvers to give Tom the best chance to succeed.
i know from my limited playing days, that when in man to man coverage, when anyone crosses the field, it makes for the toughest cover for anyone playing straight up. as almost from the first step, the defender is in chase position that if pass completed could stand to be a big gainer, specially if slippery receivers (the likes of White, Amendola and Edelman) break initial tackle(r).
Pitt did this both early -and- late that is what actually gives me more pause than worry about any Patriots 'deep threat -which outside of an undefendable Gronk through the middle, is pretty non-existent
That said, i believe the pats will take one if not multiple shots downfield --to the likes of some unheralded receiver -the likes of a Brian Tyms -inj- or Keshawn Martin). They just kind of have to --imo.
i usually find that teams hardly look identical from week to week - and the pats are the best at looking better the following week (at least more so than the opponents)
NE offense wont be as good this week as last
in this case, i dont imagine the NE offense to click as decently as did at times vs chiefs -- however i expect a slightly better defensive showing from NE -as clearly denver has superior threats in passing game, though more suspect off line, and -lets face it- qb (definitely less mobile, which is BIG plus for NE) - with a slightly lesser running game to have to defend.
Denver offense wont play as conservative
Denver only coming away with 12 points even with ridiculous (for playoffs anyways) field position early, put the onus on their defense to 'win' game -and they definitely should play better (if it yields results vs better D, who knows). The defense played good considering as only really gave up 13 points, while 'felt' like lot more.
