No Hogman or Hammy around? I thought they usually get here in the morning

What a card today - huge fields, few dirt bombs, competitive fields (but not like them Breeders, oh no - there are differences between them if you read between the lines), some classy owners and trainers entering decent hosses, etc. Quite often, Philly runs better quality and more betable fields on Monday or Tues. than on Sat. I wrote about it right in this forum how I got suckered into doing some HEAVY betting on a day like this which was the day after I had a very (and I mean VERY) good day here.. and paid the price for taking the bait - did I ever! NOT THIS TIME. But I got a feeling, just by seeing this card, that I'll probably go a little heavy on 2 or 3 of these waces today. Just hope it doesn't lighten up too much the heavy bag of loot I'll be draggins along with me after yesterday. :)

Funny thing is that I did mark the 2nd and 3rd race as "PROB. playable" but AFTER I went over them - thems too tough.

4th race: bring a rubber band along today cause it looks like there'll be plenty of tickets on races like this one where a PRICE looks iminent (how's that 50 cent word? LOL). Except for the no. 1 and 4, the picks look like poopies on paper and don't figure, but I'm getting some good vibes on a few in this race that will pay off big IF I'm right....
Zacktas: 7,8 top/bot 1,4,5,11,12 AND 3 horses that could light up the toteboard if one wins -> nos. 5,7,11 to win (maybe win/place?). Even at ONE stinkin dollar tickets the zacks will cost $20 but that's the cost of giving yourself a shot at nailing something really worth while in this race. On paper, the 7 and the 8 don't look like anything but I think either may be able to handle this field. Both come out of the same race at Monmouth and the 8 ran/finished much better. But, push come to shove as they say - I'd go with the 7. FACT IS - I'm really "going with" both cause I sure as hell don't want that no. 8 hoss beating me.

JUST REMEMBERED, big day for HM today. :)
First time voter ya know.

I should be able to come back later today.

I perused today's card but couldn't find anything that I would wager your $ on.

An article in the Ameican Turf Authority presented this reality check...here is an excerpt

This is due to the fact that so few races on the day?s card offer the investor a real opportunity to cash a wager. Most of the races carded every day defy the skill of even the most experienced selectors. To put it bluntly, most races are nothing more than guessing games.

The old truism, "horses don?t beat the players, the players beat themselves" contains more than just a grain of truth. Ninety percent of all chronic losers beat themselves because they undertake the impossible.

So, might have to see if there are any L@@KERS near post time.

GL today.

Congratulation guys, and it YOUR lucky day too. You woulda been a little poorer if you followed my plays for the 5th, 6th, AND the 4th if you didn't already. :)

BTW, I'm really surprised that whomever wrote that article Hammy posted wrote something like that. Heck, thems supposed to ENCOURAGE us suckers.

I used to be a sucker AND enjoyed every minute of it too. I think it ain't a guessing game for me these days cause coming up with the no. wieners I've had AND mostly the ODDS that I've over come.. $200+ winner on that Sareva which was my only pick that year for the Belmont.. and way too may huge zacta payoffs.. those things must overcome just throwing darts. You think I hit the bullseye that many times yesterday... those numbers didn't come from throwing darts.

Lets see if i can find something for the later races. Played 3 races so far and didn't hit the bullseye YET :)

edited to add -> that guy who wrote that article is stil in SUCKER mode like I used to be. MOST folks haven't put in a tiny fraction of the work I've put into this "hobby".

ya gotta believe Dept.

ya gotta believe Dept.

Mother's Birthday

Mother's Birthday

THIS IS REALLY SOMETHING... MAN OH MAN..

I was going to write this for 5th race today.. just unbelievable :

Picks were 7,11 top/bot with 3,8 AND that is what I did put in. HOW CUM? Well, it's a great reminder of Joanie Bird's BIRTHDAY and that's tomorrow too. Then I was gonna add,"BTW those ARE the two horse my grueling methods of trying to come up winner actually did rate on top.. 11 and 7. And I played each one to Win as well.

I also was gonna mention how that Bananas horse can really close and maybe our friend, Ferrer, might be able to get him going sooner. He actually did too.. but the effort was only good enough to get Bananas in a photo for the Show spot.

WOW!

Oh, both were losahs today :(

LUCKILY, I didn't go overboard on the few races I played so far today. Still, have yet to cash something today (didn't check to see if I got any scratch moola back yet).

If you guys are around, I'll post what SEE for the last race.
