Congrats Cris -

Keep up the good work. I'm sure those kids really appreciate what you do for them. They look like a bunch of future "gridiron" tough guys.

Thanks for the the posting and the kind words everyone and thanks again to the big guy Jack. Yeah, the assistants Ray and Brandon haven't been sending many plates back lately but they are both there every practice as they have boys on the team. Brandon, the guy holding his gut in place while they warm up used to be the "star fullback" at a school called Trinity High, or so he tells me........, and they're usually Nationally ranked and were when he was there so I am not short on a lot of good help. Problem is that his son is one of our youngest and won't be moving up in age class with me next year so that sucks. A guy that owns a body shop in Dallas painted the helmets for us and clear coated them but they tend to get banged up by season's end. Saturday was a big day for all of the boys, can't be happier for them. Funny how things work out. When I first took that team it was very hard to get players as people look at you like you are some kind of pederast when you don't have a son and are coaching.............it's actually pretty ridiculous at first................and now people actually want their boys to come play on our team. Was an awesome year. Number 24, led the league in passing, last week he led us back from a 19-0 halftime deficit going something like 19-26 for 306 yards and seven tds in the second half. Was one of the most amazing things I have ever seen as in the 7-8 year old level I get to stand in the huddle and call the plays and we spread the offense and went with four wide and a single set back, which was number 22 who is the baddest boy in the league at fullback and mike backer, and that kid would just step up to the line......see if someone was uncovered and either run the draw or hit the darn open man. Was so firggin cool to watch. Not another team in the league has more than 300 total yards passing on the season, to put that in perspective, for what that kid was able to accomplish this season........what a stud. We ultimately won 48-19 as the extra points are apparently harder to come by..........who knew. Anyway, sorry for the long post, but I'm proud of those boys. The one in the front #11 is turning 9 this year and has been with me for three years now and broke his wrist running hard...........how can't you brag on them a little bit?

Cheers

Congrats FDC. I have coached my son's team for the last 3 years at the same level you are at, we call it Mitey Mites. I was hesitant at first when they needed coaches, but boy am I glad I did it. I hope my kids have gotten as much out of it as I have, I love it. Like you, I will be moving up to the next level next year (Jr. Pee Wee) and I can't wait.

That is a VERY impressive passing attack you have there. Most teams we play at that age level are lucky if they attempt 1 or 2 passes a game.

Again, Congrats and keep up the good work...

Blitz,
With it being a 'select' league all players are recruited and have to try out and such, there is no draft. The funny thing is our QB was not courted by any of the other teams as a QB and I saw his arm and knew I wanted him so when I told him that he was going to be my stud Qb he was in immediately and I couldn't believe how polished and good he really was. He understands where pressure comes from and such and can really read what they are doing and as you know the other teams do not defend the pass very well and it is wide open most of the time. The issue was getting a 180 lber, 134 lber, 124lber and some solid 90 lbers to anchor the line. That is what we rely on, that and the amazing skill position players we had. We have two of the fastest kids in the entire league and 22 is by far the best player in the league. I mean we ran the ball most the time in the second half as we rarely had to play from behind luckily and we ran the wing-t most of the time which I believe is the best offense in football up to the high school and even some lower level college programs. Incredibly difficult to run and impossible to defend if executed properly. Once they know it though they all understand what misdirection and holding your blocks on the backside and such so it is a very good learning tool I think. Anyway, I go up to Juniors next and that is even better cuz I get to sign some 10 and even some that will turn 11 during the season. That will be huge!!!! Hey if you need anything at all for your bantam/peewees let me know, not like you need any help dude please don't take it like that I just meant if you wanted playbook or some helpful websites or such.

Hey thanks Jim, I will do that at the team party this Saturday at Incredible Pizza.
You think he might want to kiss me or something? You know I was just thinking about you, it's funny that you replied. I have always wondered that if after we met if you would find me attractive or not............do you Jim? I mean, do you think you would want to kiss me too if I coached your son? I don't want you to kiss me or look at my bum Jim, really, I seriously don't. Not even in my college days. However, I appreciate the fact that in the many years that I have been posting here you finally have chosen me as your internet boyfriend, I really do. I guess I should be flattered rather than sickened, but I have never been good at relationships. It was great while it lasted Jim, for you at least, but the time has come for you to move on as I am a bit worried about the fancy you have apparently taken to the boys or "kids" as you lovingly called them. I hope that you are able to move forward with your life and maybe get some help with your new found issues. Good luck to you old pal........................

I hope I didn't misinterpret your post...........it seemed rather clear to me..............................man that would be embarrassing.

Hope this helps,

FDC
