Unfortunately, I didn't have time to get through the usual FDC diatribe so I'll leave you with this:

Congrats FDC :mj06:

ok thanks. The stores are open here and it was no outburst. I will keep this short so you can have someone read it to you. Cheers Jim. You are a true friend.

Whats the deal with you and saint complaining about the length of my post? It is about the team not me. Of course being the pillars of society that I am sure you are, I hardly think you would understand.

Thanks for the the posting and the kind words everyone and thanks again to the big guy Jack. Yeah, the assistants Ray and Brandon haven't been sending many plates back lately but they are both there every practice as they have boys on the team. Brandon, the guy holding his gut in place while they warm up used to be the "star fullback" at a school called Trinity High, or so he tells me........, and they're usually Nationally ranked and were when he was there so I am not short on a lot of good help. Problem is that his son is one of our youngest and won't be moving up in age class with me next year so that sucks. A guy that owns a body shop in Dallas painted the helmets for us and clear coated them but they tend to get banged up by season's end. Saturday was a big day for all of the boys, can't be happier for them. Funny how things work out. When I first took that team it was very hard to get players as people look at you like you are some kind of pederast when you don't have a son and are coaching.............it's actually pretty ridiculous at first................and now people actually want their boys to come play on our team. Was an awesome year. Number 24, led the league in passing, last week he led us back from a 19-0 halftime deficit going something like 19-26 for 306 yards and seven tds in the second half. Was one of the most amazing things I have ever seen as in the 7-8 year old level I get to stand in the huddle and call the plays and we spread the offense and went with four wide and a single set back, which was number 22 who is the baddest boy in the league at fullback and mike backer, and that kid would just step up to the line......see if someone was uncovered and either run the draw or hit the darn open man. Was so firggin cool to watch. Not another team in the league has more than 300 total yards passing on the season, to put that in perspective, for what that kid was able to accomplish this season........what a stud. We ultimately won 48-19 as the extra points are apparently harder to come by..........who knew. Anyway, sorry for the long post, but I'm proud of those boys. The one in the front #11 is turning 9 this year and has been with me for three years now and broke his wrist running hard...........how can't you brag on them a little bit?

Cheers

very nice story fdc....& job well done...

fdc, just got back from nc visiting my son. great story, you must be proud of all the kids. I coached little league baseball for over ten years, before and after my son played. some of the best times of my life. still see alot of the kids around (most of whom are in college now) and they remember it like it was yesterday.
congrats and thanks for sharing...

The kids/communities need more people like you FDC
Nothing quite like the commraderie of sports at early age to build character-Can't remember all my teachers but can vividly remember all my coaches--and certain it will apply to your boys as well.

congrats FDC!!
Just finished ass. coaching my sons Jr. pee wee team and it was his fifth pop warner season. I head coach his basketball and baseball I sure wish we had head coaches who did not have kids on the team as it would make it far less subjective and we would not have the snikering bitching parents annoyingly saying their kids should start over so and sos kid, I purposely did not pitch my kid in little league this year and was the only manager or assis. coach whos kid did not pitch in the entire league ( that sums up youth sports in a nutshell, if dad coaches your kid plays wherever you want them to attitude.) Anyway congrats!!

Backcracker, I feel your pain brother. One kid's dad flat out told me that his kid won't be moving up with me but with someone else because I didn't play at QB and I told him he would get a shot. Funny thing is the kid did get a shot and after three straight fumbled snaps and forgetting a play his shot was over. I din't have the heart to tell him that his kid won't be picked up anyway as he is not good enough to be in select anymore. His size and unwillingness to hit will move him down to the youth association. Just an ungrateful wretch.

DTB, I have to tell you I won't and haven't forgotten a single kid that has played for me and the feeling you get from those little guys is unmatched bro. I mean they just try to make you happy as hard as they can and are just so filled with youth you can't help but love em. Every single one of them is like a son to me and I truly mean that. Hell we even had a team doctor this year as a volunteer and a parent bitched that he got to stand on the sideline and he didn't, and you know it doesn't detract from it even a little itty bitty bit for me. I have a great life dude I do and coaching is the one thing I look forward to more than any of the other stuff. Those kids give more to me than I think I ever could to them, but there is nothing like tryout day when 30-40 of "your boys" just can't wait to talk to you. Nothing more gratifying dude.

Rip,
I did baseball a bit too but found my niche here I think. Was a great ride I bet though huh? Funny thing is when you think back to some of the funniest moments they always involve some of the worst players or whatever. They just crack ya up man.

Above the Clouds....
Couple of short stories I'll never forget while coaching my son's team...

The funniest thing I remember coaching the little guys was during one Baseball game, keep in mind these guys are young, the right fielder came back to the dugout with sticks tucked in his socks. I asked him what that was all about and he said "hey coach nobody's gonna hit the ball out there. I had to do something to keep busy" I could hardly keep a straight face.

A few years later we had a championship Babe Ruth team that went undefeated. It was a hot summer day and all the kids showed up with blood-shot eyes from swimming all day. They were exhausted. We told them to have a good time and we sat back and watched. They got drilled that day but they didn't seem to care cause they were playing. You'll have lots of memories. I do Keep up the good work.

Hey Dumbass,
You wanted it you got. First of all you dimwitted neanderthal that is a fuhking 8 year old little kid you are talking about and using racial slurs about. He has a name, he watches cartoons, he cries when he scrapes his fuhkin face and his parents try their very best to do the best they can for him. The fact that a fuhking buffoon such as yourself, cyber persona or not, has the ovaries to say such a thing about a little fuhking boy is abhorrent! As a matter of fact if you read the thread, or apparently have someone read it to you, you would be well aware that he was one of the fastest kids in the league and is our leading receiver and also has the most rushing touchdowns on the team as we employed him in the wing-t. He is a straight A student with a heart of gold and an easy smile, an absolute joy to be around. That is the Adult explanation to your sad misguided attempt at humor.
You want to make fun of me or my damn screenname or anything you want about me then get straight after it
Geezus I am back for two fuhking days and I get this you fuhking sick fuhk. Stay way the hell out of this thread. DO NOT RETURN TO IT. Got it handjob.

FDC, you should delete or edit that post. That post is actually criminal. Making terroristic threats, be it in person or via the net can land you in jail. In some states it is a felony punishable by 5 years in the slammer.

Just tryin to save you some trouble....not worth it.
