Those who post records in my opinion are doing it primarily for either recognition, a pat on the back, or with the hopes of tearing it up and starting a service.

Yes, there are some great people here at Jack's that don't fall into those categories, but I do think that generalization is true. The best cappers, like Sam for example in the NHL forum or gregg for those few games in NCAA hoops, just go about their business posting winners. They aren't doing it to get a million "great jobs" and "nice pick" comments in their threads, and they don't need to start their own threads in the general forum when they have a pick for the attention (a la scott-atlanta). The reward for longtime members here is that we know over time who to keep an eye on. It's up to new users to figure that out for themselves.

I agree with Hawk. This forum used to be filled with some really good cappers that not only posted a play but had at least a solid paragraph of reasoning supporting the play. Today go ahead and look at the MLB and NFL forums. 90% of the threads just post plays with no supporting facts and no record.

Even worse than that is what happened yesterday. A certain well respected (for what reason, I have no idea) poster in the bases forum posted 7 plays, leading several players on them I'm sure. Later the guy had the nerve to say that he was only on one of the plays. That pissed me off and Im glad he had yet another losing day, but felt really bad for the guys that followed. It seems that if you post those big guns beside your plays you must be creditable. What a joke.

I'll be back posting when NCAA foots and hoops get rolling along and I will provide record and analysis.

Good post Hawk

Too bad some of this has gotten out of hand didn't mean for it to go that way just thought it could be a good dicussion topic. I have been on here long enough to know exactly who I follow in all sports and its very limited anymore. Will look at some new posters but only if they post records--then see how they do after about 3-6 weeks to get an idea if I am going to follow them or not. Still like to see records - just gives me an idea--I just trust people to post an accurate record.

Gentleman,
It is pressure, putting our plays out there, but that is what we do.
The records are fine, but as important, is the reason behind the selection.
I don't have thousands of posts since I joined in Aug 2000. That's because i try to give a thought as to why I will make that play.
Realize not all of us have the time to do that every time.
There's alot of us that are good at certain conferences in the NCAA. Some are strong in totals. Some are strong in situation capping, etc.
If your like me all we want to do is help each other out man!

WE ARE 1 BIG TEAM :bigun: LET'S DO THIS

Wow. Interesting opinion.

My opinion is that ANYONE can post winners here or there. Without posting records most people remember their winners but not their losers.

By posting records they/we know they are ahead of the game and posts a profit by season's end.
Showing consistancy & showing a profit is the name of the game, not just a winning streak here or there.

Sure, I get the point.

You're a bigger tool than I thought, seeing as you admit to checking most of the records here on MJs. I can see you sitting down with your pen and paper doing the calculations. Good work sport.

I admitted to checking many of the posters. Not all of them you stupid moron.

I check the ones that I am going to coattail .

It only makes sense to me.

But I think Jack and IE would both be put off by your stupid 5% analysis of madjack posters honesty.

Go find yyz and clean his teeth.

The fact remains that if you are wagering on sports for anything other than a hobby or to pass time you're a bigger moron than I thought. Life must be great grinding it out, huh.

You're a miserable person and it reflects in your posts. I'm sorry your life leaves you in such a state.

BTW, it's grammar you ignorant fuvk.

I am not a grinder. I am more of a slam it down and I mean hard , gambler.

Feel free to ignore my insignificant pontifications.

I know that may be a little difficult now that I'm in your head and all.

cant wait to catch your posted plays.

Oh I forgot you dont post any plays.:142smilie

I tried to keep a record and do not have dedication to keep one. I keep a mental record of Cappers, know when they are Hot or that they agree with my thoughts......This is why I CoatTail in Football, Basketball and Baseball....

Thanks for Posting your Plays

On the course!
I still post a record, by the way. Thing is........why post at all when only 60 people read your shit? (Same reason I stopped giving write-ups.)

You see.......I post all my plays at one time, and that's that. VERY rarely will I add games, but if I do, it is not a constant "thread bump" of 7 or 8 separate games. Then, at the end of the night, I don't come back to shout how great the day was, to get the thread one more "bump".

Too many guys here just want the ego stroke, and don't care about anything else. The funniest part about that is the fact the you are a ghost to everyone!........No one knows you!!!! So, who are you impressing?

I think the main reason guys don't post records should be quite obvious. They suck. If you don't have a shitty record hanging over your head, that 7-2 streak you're on can look a lot better. (Insert one of several names here)

How quickly you forget the post i made last year that you challenge the record. I couldn't careless that you challenge it because i know I am a straight shooter. You never did let me know what you found out. I should have been cannonized for that record but instead i have to read a silly post like this like i never posted a pick before. Five or six of us in the boxing thread said you were making a mistake with a pick and you ripped us for it. Maybe this is why guys don't post a record because it is guys like you that rip people for it. I might bust balls a lot but you will never see me slamming someone that post picks unless they do it to me first. Never! As for backing down from Judge? what do you want? We took the circus off the boards and now you make it like we are keeping it a secret?

i just don't think this is true but im only speaking for myself. Some of us take this shit deadly serious. I know i do. To me it is a pain in the ass to keep records. I know its not hard but its just a waste of time to me. Guess im just lazy and man i totally don't agree with the fellow who wants writeups. There is a reason i don't play fantasy football and it is time. To waste my time on that silly shit when i betting real money is crazy. I thought i was the only one that thought this but another guy told me the same exact thing. Look we all know im not the brightess bulb on the tree here but can't one of you computer guys figure a way how when a guy post picks, it automatically updates a record of his?
