Money going to education from the lottery is NOTHING more than a marketing ploy. A government can not generate revenue... oh wait. they can if they make gambling illegal other than their own system.
So how do we do it, guys? Well, we'll say it's for the kids and nobody can argue with us.
The amount of money going to education is huge from lotteries. But basing it on the promises made from the beginning to vote IN the lotteries, in my opinion, should be very near 100% of the government's take (about $0.50 of every dollar spent).
And if you don't disagree with on this part about education, can I state that I think too many kids go to college in this country? Our colleges are pretty much bullshit now because they are merely a second high school. There are exceptions (lawyers, dentists, etc., etc.), but for the most part our "higher" education system is a complete joke because we let everyone in.
I would much rather see kids going to trade schools. A few trades that are all but ignored in our current system: sales, entrepreneurship, and customer support.
