Other than the obvious "shoot them" which I can't do because I live in a residential area and I have kids playing outside to the north, south, and east. I have really tried to research this on the net, and I have found zilch. I have 3 large pine trees in my backyard that are full of the foul things. Their squawking is constant, and the whole understory in that area is covered with droppings.

I'm talking about blackbirds (Common Grackle). These pests are also protected somewhat since they are considered migratory  :nono: I can get a nuisance permit though as it's easily proven how much they are screwing up my property, and histoplasmosis is abundantly common here.

I've been looking for something to poison them with, and I've found nothing there either. I wonder if I could buy some D-Con and crush it up in some bread that they would eat?? I think that's what was in the pet food in the recent deaths of all the pets, wasn't it?

If anybody knows anything about this sort of problem, please post.

Also, spraying them with soapy water is out because it's not wintertime, and that's too big of an undertaking to do.

Here is a link for "Starlicide". Scroll down to the bottom and there is a phone # for PM Resources that makes this stuff for Purina. I'm sure they could steer you in the right direction as far as where or whether you can get it. I don't think that DRC 1339 is availbable to the public.

Looks like you don't want to get rid of the pine trees so here is what i would do. You buy three huge blow up pine trees. You blow them up and put them down at the corner. Problem solved. they will hang out at the more comfortable pine trees.

captain crunch, I couldn't figure out how to get a hold of the starlicide. Nobody here in BG has it. I think it's use is also restricted.

the quad city airport seems to think that fake owls on top of the building work..... but ummmmmm....they don't. A hunter like yourself tho, may be able to get an owl of some sort from a taxidermist that may work???

Camoflage some mouse traps loaded with bread crumbs around the area and scatter some more bread crumbs around for them to eat........they will start eating the bread crumbs and of course hit the ones you have set in the traps too.......just a matter of time and how many traps you want to set.......mouse traps will kill these birds guarnteed.........a good quality air riflle with a scope sight is also verry effective........would be afraid of someones pet getting a hold of the poison.........wouldn't worry about a dog or a cat in the mouse trap

haven't found a solution yet. If I didn't have neighbors, they would have all been exterminated by me already.

Man i dont know if this is strange but i swear im getting killed with bird shit this year. Never saw anything like it. It seems like there are millions of birds in the trees. People have said the bees are gone i think they turned into birds. I was just pressure washing bird shit off of my sliding glass doors. Of course the power washer shut down for some reason and now im trying to fix it. Website down and on hold for ten minutes now.

Man we have them here too. They go through about 4:30 every morning and wake me. Wish I could figure something to get rid of them. So far nothing works?
