We are leaving for Reno on Friday morning. Our flight leaves Baltimore at 8 am and we get in to Phoenix at 12. Our flight from Phoenix to Reno leaves at 12:30.

We each have a regular suitcase with our clothing etc. in it and then each of us has a bag with two bowling balls, shoes, and all our other necessities to bowl. We each can check two bags for free, but my main concern is that our stuff will possibly miss the connection since it's such a short time between landing and taking off again. Would it be wise to check our bowling stuff "at the door" when we board? I'm thinking it would but he says not.

When we fly home it would be no issue checking all the bags because we have plenty of time between flights.

And why aren't you flying out of Pittsburgh? You're driving to Baltimore?

We just came back from Mex. and on the small connecting flight from Cleve to Albany they asked us to check all bags at the door. When we landed it was only about a 5 min wait to get our carry ons.

 Baltimore is an hour closer and I've flown out of there before so I'm familiar with it?
Oh, for some reason I figured you close to PIT.

Never "gate check" a bag if you don't have to. They get thrown into the bulk cargo and are rarely secured. I know this from my many years with the airlines. If you check them normally they will be on your flight. Besides, with that short of a layover, how do you know you're even changing equipment? You may be taking the same plane tip Reno.

Mostly, quit freaking out over your shit and listen to your man because he's right woman. Christ!! Women. ........ always have to make shit harder than it has to be.

Have fun and play well. I hope you guys light up the lanes out there. Do they play the game where there is one red pin and if you get a strike when it's the had pin you win a free game? Or midnight bowling with a laser show?

Hope this helps,
FDC

HELL
Ship them to the hotel

Would be my recommendation as well. Shit, when Nole travels for this event, he rents a uhaul and driver to bring all his equipment. He is that guy you see wheeling in 2 four ball bags......even for league night.

And FWIW Pittsburgh airport is a mess and has went way down hill after US Air pulled out many years ago. Its a ghost town in there and not many direct flights anymore.

Why would you ship them over just checking them? Checking them you only have one concern, that they get on the plane. Shipping them brings all kinds of problems or possible problems to bear. Bad idea in my opinion.

I have a tendency to "overthink" things, A month ago I sat down and made out my list of each outfit I was going to wear (because I also tend to be an overpacker). I have had my stuff packed since Sunday night. I put each outfit (jeans, shirt/s, bra, undies, socks) in a 2 gallon Ziploc bag, put a note inside for what outfit it is, then press the air out of it, and Ziploc it shut. Yes yes I know that sounds weird but it saves hellish space in my suitcase and each outfit is together so I don't have to rummage through to decide what to wear.

The flight numbers change so I'm guessing we change planes? The itinerary also says "change planes"- but we are on all Southwest planes so I don't know if we will or not.

NO he is NOT always right :mj07:

I'm hoping we do well. I would hate to go out there and bowl a 130 or something shitty like that. I don't think they have glow bowling or free games in Reno. :mj07:

Reading this thread I can tell your fear is misguided

I'd stop worrying about the bags and start worrying about Jack google earthing your ass and trying to figure out where you live.

Have you bowled Nationals before? Or ever bowled on "sport" conditions? If so, I don't have to tell you how hard the shot is.
If you haven't, don't be surprised to shoot a few 130s or lower in your 9 games while out there.
Good luck and good bowling!
We roll April 7th and 8th.....:0074

Well you know if I wear a light colored shirt I need to wear a cami under it or a light colored bra. See- it's like this- If I accidentally wear the wrong shirt with the wrong bra then it all goes to hell. Then my jeans won't match my shoes, because my shirt doesn't match, all because I wore the wrong bra with the wrong shirt, and I have all matching panties and bras, and then of course they won't match either, because I wore the wrong bra at the wrong time, and there will be turmoil beyond belief. DAMN BOOBS ANYHOW!! :mj07:

No and No. We actually are supposed to try it out after league tonight but I don't think I'm going to make it over because my son has baseball practice. We are only bowling doubles and singles since it's just the two of us but Andy Neuer (he owns the bowling alley we bowl at and is an Ex PBA bowler) told us that there would be sub boards we could get on to bowl on a team if we wanted. So we might check that out too. Good Luck to you too!!

We will post results......

Too bad you can't try out the shot at home before going out. It will help you a lot if you can throw a few on the pattern since its all new to you. Also will help you to decide on what balls to take with you--assuming you throw a lot of different ones in league, that is.
Lots of teams always looking for subs---we take two full teams every year and its rare that we don't need at least one sub, so if you want to bowl the team event you should be able to.
Have a good trip and I'll look for your report when you get back.....:toast:
