i'm surprised this is news to people.

in my local paper dish network have advertised the hell out of the fact that our local cable co (time warner) is not offering NFL Network since August.

all they f'in show is the colts here and if the colts aren't playing in that time slot, we get the lowly bengals.

i've been looking forward to this thursday night game the whole YEAR! and now it's not on the tube?!

What does the NFL network have to do with this game? They are supposed to be all about getting all the games on Sunday, not monopolizing a single game on a thursday night! It wont be long til you wont see any games other than your one local team a week. It is going to get ugly. As if the NFL didnt make enough money already now they will force you to buy thier package. Then they will fix the game as in the Superbowl so you arent even getting what you pay for. Sickening

thank you, sir. i wasn't planning on going out tonight but that's the plan now. i wasn't planning on drinking tonight either, but that's the plan now. i WAS planning on winning some decent money on the ravens so that plan better NOT change.

Here is some commentary on that issue from my favorite columnist, Gregg Easterbrook....

The league scheduled NFLN's first live telecast on Thanksgiving night, in hopes of forcing Comcast and Time Warner to say uncle and put the new network on basic cable at NFLN's asking price. But in the days before Thanksgiving, callers did not deluge their cable carriers with complaints about not getting NFLN, as the league had hoped, and Comcast and Time Warner stood firm in their contention that the price of the new network is too high. Hearts must have sunk in NFLN offices when Denver-Kansas City, the first telecast, was a dull game; had it been a thriller, football fans who didn't see it would have complained the following day. Anyway the power play failed, and presumably NFLN now will cut its asking price to the market level. It's good to know the National Football League can't get its way in everything!

Jack,

DTV offers the NFL Network to commercial establishments, however it is a completely different package than the NFL Sunday Ticket. Just because they have the NFL Ticket does not necessarily mean they will have the NFL Network. I subscribed to it at my Sports Bar, and found that it is quite expensive for what you get. The cost is based on your bar's fire code occupancy. It is a monthly fee, not a season package. Some bars are subscribing and some are not because of the cost. Eventually they will probably all carry it, but right now a lot of them are not. Before you make the trip to the bar, I would call them to be sure they are a subscriber.

Even up here in ole South Dakota we are able to watch the game tonight on CABLE. This makes no sense. This is a very important game for the Bengals and over half the country can't watch it in their own homes??? WTF NFL? But I'm sure the Central Michigan vs Ohio game will be on...yippy friggin skippy!
