Everybody, well most, including the Ravens themselves, were already chalking the Houston game up as a winner the day they found out they were playing them.

They were all over confident that they would beat them at home, after all they are undefeated at home.

I'm serious here.

That was a classic look ahead situation and that's why they played so poorly.

ESPECIALLY once they got a lead of 17-3 they had to tell themselves this is an easy cake walk.

They were looking ahead to New England and they weren't mentally prepared for the fight Houston put up.

I bet you see a completely different Baltimore Ravens team take the field on Sunday at Gillette.

It'll all be over soon, folks, and you won't have to hear my homer Ravens crap until next season

I know I'm a PIA with this stuff but just hang in there with me.

I am serious about the post above, though. You better take that into consideration.

Where it is real F ing COLD
Over confidence in a playoff game? I will it chalk up to a good defensive Texan team and a QB that is not accustomed to that kind of steady pressure. Plus I think Balty's offensive coaching didn't help much either., Pats won't be able to come close to the Texans in defense. Ravens offense will be night and day in this one compared to last week. Just can't imagine them holding the Pats to 20 but hell I have been wrong many many many times. If the Ravens win I have em in the 30s.

NE defense is actually more efficient than Balt if you consider the yards they give up compared to the points they give up they are actually stingy........consider points per 100 yards defense

NE is #2 in the league at 5.15
Balt is #5 in the league at 5.65

also its a little closer than you might think on offense

NE is #3 at 7.58
Balt is #7 at 7.05

Where did you find this? :scared

#31 New England gave up:

Yards per game: 411.1
Yards per play: 6.2

#3 Baltimore gave up:

Yards per game: 288.9
Yards per play: 4.6

NE allows 3rd down conversion: 43.1%
Baltimore allows 3rd down conversion: 32.1%

NE sucks holding teams on 3rd down and Baltimore is good getting 3rd down converted.

NE 3rd down conversion offense: 45.9
BAL 3rd down conversion offense: 42.4

Ray Rice and Anquan Boldin are going to have great games. And Flacco will throw deep to Evans, Smith and Boldin many times. Many times!

The more I dig in the more I like the Ravens.

Hey jack, after reading all your posts I have decided to bet ravens small. I don't like either team, but it is the best afc game on that day. The more madjack material I read though, the more I do not understand why Baltimore is not favored by 10?

NE call it 4.1 times 5.15=21 they gave up 20.71

Balt call it 2.88 times 5.65=16.272 they gave up 16.41

Careful.

I'm just still a believer that defense beats offense.

And the Ravens offense isn't as bad as reported. They faced mostly top 10 defenses this year and their play calling is horrible at times.

The OL looked bad v. HOU but HOU has a great DL.

Pressure Brady, control the ball and the Ravens win. They can control the ball v. a defense ranked 31st.

Brees went down, Rogers went down and now it's Brady's turn for the hat trick :toast:

We'll see on Sunday.

I honestly think we have under estimated the Pats defense all year, by no means am I saying they are better than the Ravens D but I think if you dig deep its closer than you would expect.

Pats PPG 11th 20.7
Ravens PPG 3rd 16.4
Not a huge difference

In YPPT the Pats actually rank 2nd in the league just behind the niners which tells me that yes they give up a ton of yds but they button down in the redzone and allow fgs instead of tds or come up with stops. To me the redzone will be the key to this game. Ravens need to get tds and not fgs.

Let me add that I am probably the biggest Patriot hater there is and a huge fan of Ray Rice so I will be cheering right behind you Jack. Go Ravens!

All these stats are wonderful but if your Baltimore, you have to ask yourself who is going to cover Gronk? And if your front 3 don't get to Brady, then who is covering Welker in the slot or Hernandez now out of the backfield. As much as I hate the Pats, you have to hand it to Belicheck who continues to add wrinkles to their offense to keep the opposition guessing. As for the Ravens offense? Make no doubt, Flacco will have to make some plays downfield as the entire league has caught up to the Ray Rice dump off pass that used to go for 20 easy. Should be a good game, that being said... I'm hoping for a blackout! Fuck the AFC!!! :0074
