Man, I am not into this at all. If you're a Sox fan please chime in and tell me your thoughts.

I know it's the cool thing to do this year and he is one of the best ever, but this is Boston and NY. WTF?

I could never see Pittsburgh standing for the Steelers "honoring" Ray Lewis during last season. As great as he was, we would never tolerate it.

I'm sure some will say this is the Boston organization taking the high road, but FAIL IMO.

Please do not ever compare Mariano Rivera to that murderer again.

OK, bad example. I can't see Steeler fans accepting honoring any Raven. I could see, and did, the Penguins recognize Wayne Gretzky which was the correct thing to do IMO.

I think thing change when it's your hated rival. Maybe it's just me.

BTW waaaay back in the day Mario Lemieux scored like 5 goals against my beloved NYR and the MSG crowd gave him an ovation- and you know NY fans aren't the most amenable.

I also saw those same fans applaud him going off the ice with a back injury so let's not paint them as saints just yet.

Boston is an educated fan base. Not just some maniacal bunch of morons coming out of their trailers for the game.

They understand and respect his place in baseball history as the best closer ever. That supersedes the rivalry.

Hmmm...... I will have to think about that for a while.

Otherwise, being from Pittsburgh I don't know much about baseball's recent history, I thought the #42 was retired around the league in honor of Jackie Robinson?

When they retired it league-wide, anyone currently wearing it was grandfathered/allowed to keep wearing it. Rivera is all that remains from that.

Yes you're from Pittsburgh. Dominated by Boston in every aspect, and not just sports. Well maybe you got us on # of psychopaths.

Maybe so, but you will always be a small, small person trying to take out your own misery on others.

Yours will probably be one of those stories that ends with "and then the shooter turned the gun on himself".
