Fair enuff...I will be sure to stay rational when yet another "over-hyped run around til ya make something happen QB" from the college ranks fails in the NFL.
Timmy's devotees made this way..

You forgot to add that they lost by 22 points and most of those numbers he got were in garbage time. Johny Manziel scored a TD yesterday too :0corn
:toast:I'm just about ready to start supporting the Ravens.

Having watched football for over 30+ years I have yet to see a QB who runs a ton and last in this league. They are a dime a dozen coming out of college and there are way more failures then success. Not saying you can't scramble but you have to be smart about it, many do it and do it very well. You cannot take the hits that a lot of these running QB's out of college take. I can count the many who's careers have been cut short from vicious hits running the ball. Those that adapt can succeed and succeed very well. Moon, Mcnair etc. McNair still got destroyed from a vicious hit that nearly killed him.
Another thing is everyone is quick to blame a QB for the losses etc, or when they fail out of college. There is a lot more to it then just a QB. It is a team sport and it starts in the front office. You have to have some great football minds there to succeed. The core of your team is going to be compromised of the mid to late round pics. Finding those gems is the difference between success and failure. Finding a franchise QB is like finding a needle in a haystack when you break it down.
To put in to perspective just how difficult it is to find a franchise QB do a little quiz of all the teams and ask who was their last true franchise QB? I am not going to look it up but I will guess with some of the teams just to show how rare they truly are. My definition is 6 + years or more with the same franchise behind the center w/success.
Last franchise QB for some teams
Cleve - Kosar How many 1st round QB's drafted since Kosar?
Raiders - Stabler
Niners - Young
Houston - Moon
Washington - I could argue Theismann
Seattle - Zorn ....could change with Wilson
Minn - Tarkenton???
You have 20+ years on some of these teams.
That is just an example. Keep running the teams and go back and look at what is defined as a franchise QB and you will see the huge gaps.
Then there is Tampa Bay, who in my mind has never had a franchise QB. Think about that. They have been in the league how long and never had a franchise QB.
What is even rarer is to have them back to back.
AKA - Colts (Manning/Luck), Packers (Favre/Rodgers) just a small and I mean a very small sample.
When you break it all down the failure rate is astounding compared to the success.
Just something to chew on.
Or the good ole argument of the QB lost the game because of a turnover. Turnovers happen. However what gets lost in the shuffle is did that defense limit points off of turnovers? Don't have stats but I would assume that the winning teams in this league have a D that limits the points off of turnovers
Football is a team game for a reason. it is not just the players executing the plays that matters most, it is the football minds you have behind the scenes that make it succeed.
EZ I am sure i missed some as i did not do a lot of research just going off of memory. The success and sample rate is very small though. I could argue that Vick was not a success. He took a lot of hits and became injury prone as well the more he ran down the field. Now he is just a washed up backup who seems to care less about the opportunity given and more about the paycheck.
Back to Griffin 3 I still cannot understand the point of benching him. Your season is over and he has only played in 5 games this year. How did everyone calling for Cousins to start work out for them? McCoy will be the same in the end i would imagine. Let RG3 develop his skills on the field not holding a clip board. 33 games out of college does not define failure IMO. There may be a locker room issue bigger than what has been stated by the talking media heads. It is also quit obvious that him and the coach are not in unison as well.
Some strange stuff for sure. I will say this though I watched a lot of the game this weekend and when they panned over to the sidelines RG3 was very active and involved with his teammates and McCoy. That says a lot about his demeanor. Now if that was Cam Newton I don't think you would see the same.
It will be interesting to see what the future holds for him. If they release him or trade him and he becomes a success you could argue Washington made one of the most stupid decisions in their franchise history. Time will tell.
