AN FRANCISCO (KRON) ? Officials are investigating the death of actor and comedian Robin Williams.

Williams was 63.

The Marin County Sheriff?s Office said that Williams was found unconscious Monday afternoon at about 12:00 p.m. inside his residence in unincorporated Tiburon.

Investigators said that Williams was last seen alive at his residence, where he resides with his wife, at approximately 10:00 pm on Sunday.

Coroner Division suspects the death to be a suicide due to asphyxia, but a comprehensive investigation must be completed before a final determination is made.

Very sad

Very sad, he was truly one of the greats. Enjoyed the hell out of his movies, especially Good Will Hunting. So many others too, he was an excellent comedian as well. RIP Robin.

What can these rich folk be so damn depressed about? I understand that money doesn't make happiness but it can sure help change things. Do what Marlon Brando did and move away to your own island. Something! Those drugs and alcohol sure can fuck you up. Jesus!

Depression is a disease, there are genetic predispositions. Have any of you guys ever dealt with it? I did after my dad died. It's debilitating.

This is spoken by someone who doesn't truly understand depression. I don't know that I have the ability to properly explain it to make you understand, but perhaps someone here could.

I sure must not. I've been depressed but not to that degree.

Kansas City area for who knows how long....
reminds me when novelist Rousseau (1776) was asked if he wanted his ficitional boy ?mile to become a great artist, Rousseau replied "No, I want him to be happy".

all the fancy psych studies consistently show 60-75% of artists, writers, musicians suffer mental illness (usually mood disorders) while only 15-30% in other professions do.

but most artists aren't severely depressive/suicidal, and most folks suffering from these psych disorders aren't all that creative....just a high percentage of the creative are sufferers to some degree.

There are several theories about why, which all start with the assumption that the mental disorders precede the self-treatment by booze and drugs...

Chicken or the egg

Chicken or the egg

Dear Jack- did u ever consider that Robin had his mental problems from the START and that's why he repeatedly sought solice from substances after innumerable trips to rehab? If he was just an addict he wouldn't have killed himself, he could buy enough drugs for 10000 addicts w his money. He was a tortured soul mentally and spiritually, worse than the average guy apparently, and he was self medicating by doing those nasty droogs. ....just my opinion.
