I got behind the tail end of this fiasco yesterday. They two people weren't even from the US. They were here via a cruise and couldnt produce valid IDs to purchase a 6-pack. Caused a small scene and took forever. Then, I realized they had almost a cartful of groceries that had been checked out.

At the end.....the cashier says (in a meek voice) "This is a 10 items or less lane, for your information"

Wouldnt that have been better to bring up to start with?! Christ

I've been in stores where it's the only line open. The picture could be deceiving.

That's the only register that sells cigarettes.

there's always asswipes like that

the last time I was in line at a walmart, the cashier lane opened up and called me over but then this old hag bitch with a bottle of wine went to him cutting in front of me

but it's ok that old bitch will suffer from dementia and shit in her diapers on her way out of this world

I prefer to order online and just go in and pick it up and dash out

I work in the grocery business so it could be like yyz said and it's the only checkstand. Our store has only one register open from 6-8am but if a line someone will be called. We used to use the first register which was a express lane but changed it. If someone working there is paying attention they should open another register and bring her over there. Then again she could be a bitch and refuse to move. So instead you open the register for the grumpy old man website owner behind her.
Cigarettes? We keep them in the booth locked up so the checker needs to walk over there to get them, or the bagger.
What chain? Just wondering.

It wasn't me

It IS a local Walmart that I go to frequently though. That particular line is way down the other end. This Walmart has about 30 checkout lines and normally the only ones that are open are the first 4 or 5. That old checkout guy is the best checkout guy I ever had check me through. He keeps everything sorted properly and double bags the heavy ones. :0074
