So has USC :142smilie

SEC fans should just start a petition to see if they can have their own NCAA football league. Then they could just jerk each other off after every game and claim how superior their league is...

:mj07: now that's some funny chit:142smilie..

that conference is like a circle jerk...we don't play anybody OOC the bowl record is nothing to brag about but the SEC still self-proclaims to be the top conference...

If your going to bitch and cry how tough the conference is then send some of the teams to the Big East already...then maybe you'll actually get a NC title game appearance...

there are plenty of teams in other conferences that could hold their own in the SEC...

okay dlvlsu & Gator4whatever...before your heads explode...IMO The SEC is the best conference this year...

I am just curious as to how many titles the SEC has won in FB? You have thrown this stat out many times and you must know it.

Also. in history there have been many undisputed ones for the SEC. How many of the overall total does the SEC claim?

Just curious nothing behind it.

I dont know what he's claiming there, nor do I represent that to be the most National Titles for a conference. I'm not sure when you'd count "real titles" vs. "faux titles," like with Yale and Harvard winning "National Titles" in the 1910s after playing 3 games lol.

Thom24ad - I'm not the only "fanatic" representing the SEC as the best this year; check out everybody on the TV as well. Some people are even putting Florida over OSU in the rankings right now. I'd say thats a stretch, but cmon USC cant even win straight up in its own conference, yet its better than Florida at the current moment?

These arguments are still weak for both sides; its only the beginning of October...a lot of football to be played. I have a good feeling that either USC or Florida will suffer one loss and nobody will know the truth.

Hey, I'm just bustin balls...its pretty well known the SEC is the best this season...And if the Gators roll all the way then they deserve the #1 ranking over OSU no questions asked...but like you I think the Gators and SC both lose...I've said it before and I'll say it again the BCS is going to fawk this up and we'll all be bitching about who should be playing in the NC...there hasn't been two teams that have emerge as clear cut favorites for the NC...who's #2 will be the questioned asked at the end of the season...

OOC game = CONF game. Both carry the SAME weight in terms of BCS. Not sure why you say "OOC blah blah." Or maybe you say it because your FL Gators play WESTERN KENTUCKY!!!!!!!!!!!

SEC fawks themselves with $hitty OOC schedule and playing so many home games. It worked in the past but not anymore. Educated people see right through it. I am glad computers see it, and hopefully coaches poll and Harris poll continue to see it and keep USC #2 where they belong!

I wonder if Florida loses to Auburn, does the AP Poll put Michigan at #2 and jump USC AGAIN? :142smilie

You keep giving the same tired arguments, but fail to actually rebut most of the points I make. USC DOESNT PLAY A SINGLE RANKED OPPONENT ON THE ROAD. WE PLAY THREE! By the end of the season, FSU might even be ranked. Just rebut that one point, without using this tired OOC argument that apparently not too many people are buying (your polls gave UF first place votes, USC none).

This season USC is fortunate to get most of their toughest opponents at home. Exact opposite of last years schedule.

I do not put much stock into top 25 polls. Why? SEC! Play 5 $hitty teams, 1 good team, 5 home games and you are top 10 team even with 1 loss. Top 25 is bogus because it focuses too much on wins/losses and not who you play or where you play.

I believe Arkansas is currently ranked in the top 25and Arkansas is tied for 1st is the "mighty" SEC. USC played @ARKY and won 50-14. :hail

UCLA is currently very close to being a top 25 team. Maybe top 25 team when they play USC.

Florida plays TOUGHER teams on the road but USC plays more road games and more BCS teams on the road. USC had 3 of their first 4 games on the road! :scared

Florida 4 road games!
USC 6 road games! :scared

@TN
@AU
@FSU

That is tough. Well maybe not. Playing @AU isn't so tough. USC beat them there with QB making his first career start (23-0) and ARKY just beat them there with freshman QB (27-10). :scared Air Force like Florida took TN down to the wire @TN except AF lost on 2pt try. FSU isn't anything special anymore.

agree with almost everything you say thom, except BCS not giving us two clear cut favorites. Did you forget last year? 1 vs 2? Texas vs SC? undefeated vs undefeated?

Florida currently has 5 road games: Tennesse, Auburn, Georgia, Vanderbilt, and Florida State. If you want to count Georgia has a home game, you're nuts. That is about as neutral as ground gets. We will also play (assuming we run the table) a conference game...make that 6 road games. 6 games away from our house and we play 13 games; 6 games away from USC and they play 12 games. OK, we get one more at home, anyone would concede that...but who you play on the road, vs. who we play on the road, is the crux of this argument. Our road schedule is 10x harder than yours. Waive your arms in the air about the bad OOC game we play at the end of the year...but the road schedule easily outweighs the USC road schedule.

You say "you're fortunate to play those teams at home;" well we make our schedules years in advance. We schedule certain teams at certain times...its not our fault those schools' football programs falter. Southern Mississippi gives teams fits from year to year and competes for their conference championship year in and year out. UCF is a Florida team and we give them a stage for the rest of football nation to see; they know they wont win, but the whole point is to boost their program and the State of Florida as a football program overall. Wow, you step out and play Nebraska, a team that just about every analyst agrees is severely over-rated and will eventually drop out of the rankings.

Arkansas is a different team from when your team played them. I guarantee that if USC and Arky played again this weekend, the game would be significantly closer, if not an opposite result, from what it was weeks ago. You'll hold your Arky flag for OOC games, yet we'll likely face them in the SEC championship...so our SoS will be boosted just as much as yours.

So if you want to claim UCLA, I'll let you have that...I'll claim FSU and the SEC West champion. SIX ranked opponents; Tennessee, Auburn, FSU, SEC champ all on the road.

Some of the BCS computer polls have USC ranked first! What a joke! I dont think a single person would do that; saving Californians. Oh wait, nobody significant has! The USA Today Poll gives Florida a first place vote, which I even find overdrawn, but nobody gives anything to USC.

If Florida beats both Auburn and Georgia, Florida will be ranked number two without contention...even with the California bias. USC plays Arizona State and Oregon State; two unranked teams. Florida plays #11 and #16 (or #10 and #14 in your covetted poll). Both of those games are on the road...one of yours is on the road.

You really think USC would gain votes after October is over, contingent upon Florida beating both teams? Please, if anybody agrees with that...please step forward and explain why, with the USA Today poll only having 49 vote differential, would not swing in favor of the Gators after these two, rough road games compared to USC's two cupcakes.

BCS got lucky last year with a last second score by MICH to hand PSU only loss of the season...we were 2 seconds away from having 3 undefeated...and what crime it would have been if TEX got snuffed...

I just don't see the scenario where you have two undefeated teams at #1 and #2...hell we'll probably have a undefeated Big East team behind two one loss teams...

Maybe another total fawk up by the BCS is what we need to help ploy a playoff...could be a blessing in disguise

I agree FL road schedule is tougher than USC's road schedule.

You say "you're fortunate to play those teams at home;" well we make our schedules years in advance. We schedule certain teams at certain times...its not our fault those schools' football programs falter.

Schedule home and home series with BCS schools. No excuses to schedule these crap teams. Don't complain if USC is ahead of FL in the BCS. Western Kentucky will kill your SOS and USC already is ahead of FL in SOS with their toughest opponents still on the schedule.

I think USC scheduled home/home with Nebraska when they were in the BCS NC game against Miami. USC scheduled home/home with Ohio St. after Ohio St. won their BCS NC. USC home/home with Auburn, home/home Arkansas. 4 years ago home/home with Kansas St. when they were tops in Big 12. USC played Florida St. home/home when they were dominating CFB. Don't forget ND is always on USC's OOC schedule. List goes on and on. I know USC would love a home/home with any FL schools and take home some prize recruits after the victory! I think the only easy game USC welcomes is Hawaii for obvious reasons! Otherwise USC tries and go out and play the best.

Arkansas is a different team from when your team played them. I guarantee that if USC and Arky played again this weekend, the game would be significantly closer, if not an opposite result, from what it was weeks ago. OF COURSE! Every team USC smokes had an off day, OVER-RATED, SUX or whatever. Every team that plays USC close, SUX or is OVER-RATED! USC smokes Arkansas @ARKY, ARky smokes AU @AU, people touted AU as #2 in country, people try and tear down USC as #2, but USC is the only team that keeps on winning!

Some of the BCS computer polls have USC ranked first! What a joke! I dont think a single person would do that; saving Californians. Oh wait, nobody significant has! The USA Today Poll gives Florida a first place vote, which I even find overdrawn, but nobody gives anything to USC.

2 things that are important.

*Who is ranked #1 and #2 in Harris and Coaches Polls. These 2 carry out the most weight in BCS formula.

*Computer Polls.

As of right now, USC is #2 in both polls and #1 in computer polls. USC still has their toughest opponents reamaining on their schedule. Good news for USC, bad news for anybody behind USC!

If Florida beats both Auburn and Georgia, Florida will be ranked number two without contention...even with the California bias.

I doubt that. Auburn is a great team? Why? Georgia is a great team? Why? I am not imrpessed with either team. Maybe I should be impressed because they play in the SEC? Or because they are highly ranked because of so many wins against $hit competition? FL isn't jumping USC.

Again, I do not think FL can jump USC. It is VERY difficult to jump a team in the polls. Longer the season goes on, the harder it gets. That is why FL needed to jump USC in Sept. I think most voters will keep USC #2 as long as they keep winning (winners of 50 of their last 52 games) and wait to see if USC gets beat by Oregon, CAL, ND or UCLA. Once USC loses, then FL moves up. One thing we do know is voters do not like moving teams around in their ballots. Voters do not like to punish teams for winning. USC has won 50 of their last 52. USC @ #2 is the right vote until they lose. Especially with their difficult schedule AND the difficult teams still left on their schedule.

If USC goes undefeated, I think USC will have the most wins in the entire country against BOWL TEAMS! VERY IMPRESSIVE RESUME!

We jumped WVU. WVU was up by 57 votes in the USA Today the week before, now we lead them by 14 votes in the USA Today. Thats after beating a one-loss team while at home. You dont think we'd gain 25 votes a week by beating one-loss teams on the road? Dont forget, those are SEC teams we would beat, and that would mean we'd receive some of the votes they are still receiving.

I appreciate your last response; it was far more coherent and logical than your last few. I'm going to set this argument aside until the end of October...maybe even later than that...because this is still highly speculatory.

Take care.

FL might gain some votes but not enough to move ahead of USC. AUBURN isn't anything special unless you just focus on top 25 ranking. I don't. AU has done very little to impress this season and has played an easy schedule filled with ton of home games. WHO CARES! AU is just a classic over-rated SEC team to be honest, I think most of the educated CFB fans across the country are getting tired of the SEC and their easy schedules.

But as a USC fan, I would be concerned if FL moved ahead of USC in BOTH polls. Small chance of that happening. As a FL fan, you need that to happen SOONER vs LATER. FL is not jumping USC in the last 4 weeks of season. USC plays Oregon, CAL, ND and UCLA. With USC close wins, there was small chance of FL jumping USC and it hasn't happened in either BCS poll. USC most likely will start blowing out opponents. ASU, Stanford and Oregon St. is the easiest stretch on USC's schedule. Plus USC has bye to get healthy.

USC will win SOS/computer polls and USC just needs to be ranked ahead of FL in one of the 2 major polls (coaches/harris). Then USC is IN and Fl is OUT.

FL needs Arky, Nebraska and ND to start losing. Also for Oregon and CAL to be upset in conf. play. Oregon def. is ripe to be upset in conf. play. Then FL starts looking more attractive in the computer polls/sos.

Dont forget, those are SEC teams we would beat, and that would mean we'd receive some of the votes they are still receiving.

These SEC teams are ranked below FL, so you would not want to receive their votes! ;)

I appreciate your last response; it was far more coherent and logical than your last few. I'm going to set this argument aside until the end of October...maybe even later than that...because this is still highly speculatory.

Teams just need to focus on winning. Ohio St. recently won a NC winning ugly week in week out. Just need to win and then hope your SOS holds up. USC caught bad breaks when LSU went ahead of USC in SOS by the slimmest of margins.

The system sucks and any team who is left out who runs the table has every right to complain. Even W. Virginia with their $hitty schedule. But I do not feel sorry for them because they could have played any top BCS team on the road. Don't demand a return visit. I especially feel bad FL or USC who has played brutal schedules and both have earned the right to play in the BCS NC if they run the table.

It will be interesting to see what happens if FL beats Auburn by 20pts @AU and USC beats ASU by 3pts @USC. Does FL jump USC? I say FL has 25% chance. USC is taking huge risk if they do not dominate ASU @home.

One more thing. When you tout the FL/UGA game, remember Arizona St. beat CO @CO 20-3. Georgia should have lost to CO @Georgia. Don't forget that. Pac 10 is tougher than you think. Everyone thinks UGA is a top ranked team and ASU is $hit team. If FL beats UGA and AU, put them ahead of USC. If USC blows out ASU, who the fawk cares. ASU is $hit team from Pac 10. :nono:

As the plot thickness...

All we need now is a USC loss (which I believe we'll see in the short future) for a total cluster fawk for the BCS...

I just hope my team can stay #1...

It is a battle between Texas, FL, and AU for 1 loss teams. Lucky for them, they lost early. USC is out if they lose. ND might be able to creep back in with blowout against USC @USC at end of the year. That would be impressive (if USC was undefeated @time)

USC has 4 weeks to get their act together before the gauntlet. Otherwise USC might "easily" lose 1-2 games on the year.

Imagine a playoff with undefeated Ohio St. and West Virginia

1 loss teams........

USC
Florida
Auburn
Texas
CAL
Michigan

OSU clear favorite with everyone having legit shot at winning it all. I wouldn't want to miss any of these playoff games.

OSU vs CAL
USC vs Michigan
Texas vs FL
West Virginia vs Auburn

OSU vs West Virginia (battle of unbeatens)
USC vs Texas (rematch huge ratings)

OSU vs USC (big ten vs Pac 10)

USC of course NC's!

I know Scott, the match-ups would be unbelievable...We as the fans are getting screwed...

Pete has the next couple of games to work what they need to...last week was a true case of SC becoming complacent in the second half...but those type of things happen with a young team...

ND beating an undefeated SC team would be awful...the Irish get babied in the polls and win like that they could be a undeserving top five team...they belong right around the bottom ten...

I think Cal is the one SC should circle because are playing awfully good right now...
