I'll play if I remember. Imagine how many losing tickets there were for the pot to get this high. Yeah, we have a chance. Gimme the cash.

I have been in groups several times when the pots get this high. We buy 100 tickets, and are lucky to "win" back $5.

If you are meant to win, one ticket is all you need.

The rake on Powerball tickets is 50% so when the jackpot gets to $478 MM that doesn't include the smaller prizes so the actual prize pool is already over $500 MM which means there has been over $1B taken out of the US economy so that 1 person (or 2 or 3 or however many winning tickets there are) can get all the money. Seems like a bad idea doesn't it? All those people that work hard for their money are spending over a BILLION dollars so one person can get all the money. Bad for consumers, bad for the economy and both affect the lower income part of the population most.

Funny side note, when people hear about the CEO of a company getting $10MM a year or something people complain about "all those hard working people busting their ass for that company so one person can get all that money". I imagine them saying that as they are in line for their Powerball tickets.
