Wrong again Mags.

At the time of the election, Obama's approval rating was 46% while the Republican Party's approval rating was 26%.

Feingold's incumbent status was trumped by single-issue voters like yourself and uninformed voters (Tea-Baggers).

Better go easy on the Leinenkugels Mags... you're slurring your posts. :toast:

Well, America must all be single issue voters then - cuz last I saw, the Dems got SMOKED on Tuesday...:00hour

The Dems just didn't show up as they weren't very motivated. I did my part but it always happens. The pissed off party usually gets their people to the booth. It doesn't make any difference if they are being lied to or not.

Belly of the Beast
I know Obama has had his life revolve around saying negative things about insurerers. It is too bad - there are 40+ industries with much higher profit margins than insurance. Why pick on insurance (rather than autos, food, telecom, etc)? Because insurance folks are smart, and are not unionized.

I know you insurance folks are smart, but where exactly does that statement come from. . . insurance having lower margins than autos?

Sponge is right. You're a handjob Mags.

Russ Feingold stood for something. Over ONE MILLION of us Wisconsin voters recognized that. Unfortunately, 1.1 million of Wisconsin's less informed voters fell for the slick sales pitch the wealthy Johnson relentlessly flooded the Wisconsin airwaves with for months on end.To be fair, it remains to be seen what kind of senator Johnson will be. But I wouldn't get too excited Mags because like most of the other Republicans that were elected on Tuesday, Johnson ran a platform based solely on stopping the Obama agenda and offered no new ideas of his own. Throughout most of the campaign, I couldn't tell if Johnson was running against Feingold or Obama.

So let's see what Johnson brings to the table. He might be a good guy but that doesn't mean he'll make the right decisions for the citizens of Wisconsin or the country as a whole. If he's half the senator Russ Feingold was, he'll be head and shoulders above most of his peers in Congress on both sides of the aisle.

So every Single voter is less informed Trench ?

Come on !

Depends on the auto, but many models do have more than a 4% PM - espeically SUV's. But you are correct - I thought they were on the list in aggregate - and they are not. Good catch.

Where it is real F ing COLD
Mags-

Johnson flooded us with commercial after commercial about bringing back jobs to wisconsin? Blah blah blah.

1. What does Johnson plan to do about healthcare?

2. How is he going to specifically create jobs?

3. Why was he such a good candidate.. A good businessman but what are his credentials in politics?

4. Do you think he bought the election and how is he going to recoup his funds that he spent to win the election??

Bleeding - clearly, that was a very cynical message.

Jobs/Healthcare are intermixed. The tax increases that result from the HCR bill and the certain price increases over and above what would have occurred under the previous system (due to much richer benefit mandates), along with paying the cost of the 15M that are now going to get "Free" insurance adds much cost uncertainty to businesses. In addition, the mandate that everyone had "Obama-Approved" coverage, which may not be what they currently have (i.e. McDonalds) will add even more cost to businesses. Regulation costs money - a lot of money in Tax dollars to pay government salaries, and a lot of money on the back end to try to figure out what the heck the regulations mean and how to implement it.

Lower taxes, keeping money in folks pockets, and not spending it on needless regulation is the way to go.

I'm not completely sold on Johnson yet either. But he is just so much better than the alternative. Outside of Madison, this is not a liberal state - and Feingold is the most liberal Senator out there. He'd been there long enough, and needed to go.

This election was much like the Obama election in 2008. That Election, for many, wasn't about Obama - it was that the other choice, Bush/Palin, was so revolting to folks that they took the lesser evil - Obama (ok, that didn't turn out so good, but that is what they were thinking).

Here the lesser evil was clearly Ron Johnson. Hopefully he'll turn out to be more consistent with what America is about, and hopefully turn out much better than Obama did.

Time will tell.

Fair enough, I was just trying to support the argument that less informed voters voted for Johnson. The state of Wisconsin could of very easily voted in a turd because we do not know much about him politically.. It is easy to sound good on TV with AD after AD.. I hope he does well.

Not giving up on Obama yet, do people really believe the country would run better with McCain? Repubs were going to bail out too.. Bush knew this before he left off, that is why he left it for Obama, so O could take the downfall..

Not to say that I am entirely happy with O, but I don't think the Repubs have done much to help out over past 2 years, except dig their heels in the sand and filibuster filibuster and filibuster.. I guess it really doesn't matter because people have short term memories and do not realize what got us in this mess. People do not take accountability for their actions.. Run up credit, buy overly expensive housing, cars, and luxury items and then blame someone else when you can't pay it back. Too much instant gratification and that is where a lot of the problem..

Truer words have never been said.....

I'd love to see a statistic, showing the percentage of income the average person sets aside for retirement each year (via 401K or IRA). I'll bet most, instead of "paying themselves first", spend it all instead. I understand there is a small segment of population that has no choice - but for most others, it is a matter of just doing it - and then after a paycheck for two, you get used to it and don't think about it anymore. The whole time that money is building and growing over 40+ years before you retire.

That was a disclipline my dad taught me - and one of the best life lessons (among many) that he did give me. Don't depend on others to support you, when it is your sole job to do so.

Holy Cow over 4 Billion spent on this election. Could that money be used for so many better things. THen on lust for power. When are we the people going to say stop.

Here in california we made out ok. Meg Whitman spent 140 Million dollars she otherwise would have horded the rest of her life.

Instead she spent it on advertising, which trickles down to a lot of jobs here in California.

As annoying as it is, a lot of newspapers, printing companies, radio stations, and local television stations rely on the obscene political spending that occurs every couple years. These are otherwise struggling industries. :0008

You ever hear one republican tell ya what he is gonna do? All they know how to do is attack. You would think one of them would have the balls to tell ya what he is gonna do. Can't wait to see all the new jobs they create. Most will prolly be over in Iran. Republicans do create loads of jobs. Just in other country's.

He is a beauty isn't he? I bet that nose of his sticks out a lot farther then any other body part. I never saw a guy so self centered and selfish in my life. I'm telling ya Trench i have went to a few of these Republican functions and their wives are bored to death. Just hoping some day that somebody would take them out of the misery they got themselves invvoled in. Not all Republicans but a guy like this is a special case. Still cracks me up how he had his wife read some post of Duffs post to determine if they should meet :mj07: :mj07: :mj07:

Let me guess, self centered because I want the government to get out of the way? To eliminate the added taxes and regulation?

As you saw from Stimulus, the government is just wasting money. All economies have ebs and flows - cyles, if you will. They go down and in time they rebound. They will do this on their own, without government intervention.

Now selfishness, that is saying "I want me free healthcare, unemployement and food stamps - and I want someone else to pay for it!".

Manning up is saying "I'll take care of myself, thank you".

Hmmm... who is selfish here, Mr. Cradle to Grave entitlement liberal? Wanna get as much free stuff as you can, while other people work to support you, don't you?

SPONGE is the perfect handle for you - as all you want to do is SPONGE off of society, and other people's hard work. Quite a lifesytle - one to be proud of!

Its amazing how you and DTBlackgumby get stuck on this over and over .

If we did not take care of ppl in need what kind of country would we be ?

Hell we send millions over to Africa and many other countrys to feed and clothe them and give them free medical every year

why cant you guys say that once in awhile.

WE NEED TO STOP SENDING OUR MONEY AID OVER TO AFRICA AND OTHER COUNTRYS TO THE WELCHERS AND MISFITS THAT DESERVE TO DIE. JUST A BUNCH OF N....... WITH GHETTO BLASTERS, ONE AND ALL.

At least you would be somewhat objective.

The US has an obligation to help those who can't help or defend there selves.

Answer

The US gives billions of dollars annually in aid to other countries, provides humanitarian support, forgives the debt of other countries and lends troops in times of military conflict

...................................................................

Why dont you neocons get upset over these billions we send out.

but no. You got to throw your wrath on Americans who alot honestly need help to get through a tough time.

If you want to get rid of corruption and welfare fraud , start at the highest levels and look at the medicare fraud billions, or the way Soc Sec was stolen from by the goverment.

Stop the lobby ppl and term limits and clean out the millionaires 10 times over who just like to play the goverment games and say fawk the American people.

I think you are incapable of understanding this

Hey Dipsh*t - not one thing I wrote had ANYTHING to do with race. Even though that is your normal process - to make it a race issue - it wasn't discussed in that manner, nor were there ANY inferences to race.

I truly believe that YOU are a racist however - because every response you make seems to bring race into a conversation where it didn't exist.

Yes, Scott, you as a 50+ year old white guy living in the south - clearly must be a racist. You fit the profile and continually bring up race in your posts.

Probably have a Conferederate flag in your front yard.

But leave me out of your racists thoughts and comments. We are more advanced in the North - in fact, we beat the crap out of you guys to free the slaves, if you remember right. I'm sure you are still smarting from that defeat.
